Today is Organize Your Home Day, which is the perfect chance to quit making excuses for one day, get down to business and get your home back into shape! Put everything else aside for a few hours and get to task on all those little niggling things and DIY jobs that have been begging to be finished for months now. 

Being organized can balance your life. It can reduce stress and makes you more productive. It can stop you looking for things, of having to buy new things that you don't need. If you make it your way of life today, it can soon become a habit and you will reap the benefits for years to come.

This is one holiday I can truly celebrate.  Organizing things in my home has been an ongoing task for a while now.  Once you clear away the clutter of things you don’t need it’s a whole lot easier to get organized.

This weekend we’re to hover right around the freezing point, but next week is to be  warmer once again.  Temps in the 40’s and even 50’s are coming are way!  Very strange weather for January for sure!  I’m not complaining at all.  No snow to shovel or ice to slip on is a wonderful thing!

This morning I’m off to get a hair cut, thanks to a gift card I got for Christmas.  I’m thinking something new!  We’ll see...

WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN

There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!

Today is Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day 

A traditional New York pastrami is made from the navel end of the brisket. It is cured in brine, coated with a mix of spices such as garlic, coriander, black pepper, paprika, cloves, 

allspice, and mustard seed, and then smoked. 

Pastrami is typically sliced and served hot on rye bread, a classic New York deli sandwich, pastrami on rye,  sometimes accompanied by coleslaw and Russian dressing. Pastrami and coleslaw are also combined in a Rachel sandwich, a variation of the popular Reuben sandwich that traditionally uses corned beef and sauerkraut.

Some people like to use sub buns and some like to use sour dough bread for their pastrami sandwiches.  There are many different varieties.  Here is recipe I found that sounds pretty good.

Grilled Pastrami Sandwich

Russian rye bread
Swiss cheese
Pastrami
Thousand Island dressing
Sauerkraut

First, spread Thousand Island dressing onto bread. Add Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and pastrami. Butter the outside of sandwich and grill until golden brown. Delicious!! 

COUNTING MY GIFTS
