47 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER
Sunrise: 6:19 am
Sunset: 8:30 pm
Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Renewal Day which is an absolutely spectacular day. It's a day of new, and old, beginnings. Things get old and out of sorts. We lose touch with friends, loved ones, and acquaintances For whatever reason, we let 'it' go. Well, whatever ‘it' is, today is the day to renew it, rejuvenate it, and bring the spark back into it.
When we think of renewal, we often think of relationships. We swear we will remain close to our family and friends, but over the years, we don't. All too quickly, the demands of everyday life keep us from calling or writing.
Renewal Day is not limited to renewing relationships and social issues. You can also renew your nails, your hair color or style, your figure, your hardwood floors, the shine on your car, your driver's license, or a favorite magazine subscription
Get into Renewal Day!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Relax, refresh and refocus!
Here at my house there are many things that need refreshed and renewed and that would include me, myself and I. Thankfully it is Spring when the whole world seems to be renewed. I so need the fresh air and sunshine. Too many days spent inside have left me rather shabby and I’d like a little sparkle back.
With a little elbow grease I’ve rid all the grime of winter off the front porch and it’s ready and waiting for some warmer days. I do love to sit there and watch the world go by or read a good book or even take a nap.
There is always something in need of doing, especially this time of year. Slowly but surely I’ll get there. Living in the slow lane means that I never hurry doing anything. And that is a good thing to my way of thought. You do see a lot more when you aren’t traveling fast.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
National Candied Orange Peel Day is celebrated on May 4th. Candied orange peels are boiled and sliced orange peels, which are candied with sugar. Very delicious! Take part of this day by trying a recipe for candied orange peels. Most often they are used for certain pastries like fruitcakes. But of course you can also eat them right away if you like the real sweet taste.
They have a strong taste and can therefore easily be used to flavor other foods. Grated candied orange peel can sweeten cakes and cookies without knowing that they are in it.
I’ve never made Candied Orange Peals before but do have many recipes that call for grated orange peals.
Candied Orange Peals
Remove the peel from the oranges and cut into strips. This isn’t an easy task, but just keep working at it. Place the strips of peel in a large saucepan and cover with cold water. Set over high heat until boiling. Drain and repeat the process. Once drained for the second time, set aside the orange peels.
Whisk together the sugar and water in the same saucepan and bring to a simmer. Let the simmering continue for about 5 minutes. Add the peels and cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour, making sure the simmer is maintained.
Drain syrup from the peels. Leave out to dry for 2 or 3 hours.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Hope is a renewable option: If you run out of it at the end of the day, you get to start over in the morning.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3829. for Spring, it’s a breath of fresh air

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

great post
I have never made candied orange peels. I like to eat them, maybe I'll make some this year :)
It is good to renew a friendship; funny but a young woman I knew up in Montana and lost touch with except through Facebook will be visiting our area this weekend with her hubby; we plan to get together for dinner one night :)
I find too it takes me a bit to get things done, but I just, like you, keep plugging away slowly until it is done and then take rests along the way.

Your post helped me to remember today is a friend's birthday. I haven't stayed in contact with her the past couple of years! I will send her a Happy Birthday right now! I am finding that I am much happier to just sit and read than I used to be. It will get done when it gets done!!
Rollover and look at the stars! Great advice!
I am all for rewewal and there is no better time for that than in the Spring! My father loves Candied Orange Peel. I make some for him every year. Have you ever tried it dipped in chocolate? It's fabulous! Have a wonderful Thursday! Thank you so much for all the goodness you share with us. You are a ray of sunshine! xoxo
