35 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Love a Tree Day. So, go out and give a tree a great big hug. Trees are a good thing. They give us shade, comfort and warmth. They give off oxygen, too. There are many, many benefits provided by trees. So, you have good reason to love a tree or two.
Everyone has a favorite kind of tree. Use today to identify a tree you love, and to pamper it. Give it a trim. Eliminate competitors around it. Feed it a dose of fertilizer. Tree spikes work great. And, give the tree some water, if it is thirsty.
On Love a Tree Day, turn your attention toward trees. A bush or a shrub just won't do.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If you would know strength and patience, welcome the company of trees.
Hal Borland
I read an article that said the Amazon Rainforest produces more than 20 percent of the world's oxygen. We all need that oxygen to live. Rainforests used to cover 14% of the earth's land surface, now they only cover 6%. That’s more than a little scary when you think about it.
I do love trees and am very glad the leaves are green once more. After a very chilly Sunday here, it’s nice to look out and see the sun shinning this morning. Yesterday morning we had a hail storm, shown in the picture above, and last night we had freeze warnings. Thankfully it’ll be a whole lot warmer here today.
Last week on one of the few nice days we’ve had I got out for a little walk in one of our local parks and the pictures of that are shown below. If you look closely you can see the babies in the grass.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
May is National Barbecue Month
And I found this recipe to share with you all.
Honey Barbecue Wings
20 chicken wings, tips removed
2 cups flour
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk
1 bottle barbecue sauce
1/4 cup honey
oil, for deep frying
Wash chicken wings, shake off excess water. place eggs and milk in a bowl and mix well. set aside. Mix together barbecue sauce and honey, set aside. Put flour in bag, shake wings to lightly coat. roll wings in egg wash and toss back in flour again. you want a fairly heavy coating of flour. Repeat 2 or 3 times.
Heat oil to 350 degrees. Fry wings until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Dip each wing in BBC sauce and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 15 to 20 minutes until they no longer look shiny.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
Joyce Kilmer
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3865. for trees, it’s great to see green leaves once again
3866. for a sunny blue sky morning
3867. for a very good cup of coffee this morning
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
He that plants trees loves others besides himself.
English Proverb
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

The picture from your park walk I couldn't see, but it sounds like it was a delightful walk! So true the importance of trees on producing oxygen. I think my favorite trees are maple trees, especially when they start losing their leaves in the fall and are so colorful. Yum on the wings recipe!

I am sorry to say I don't always love and appreciate trees the way I should. I have a loctus tree in my backyard that annoys me most of the year. But it provides wonderful shade in the summer so we have kept it around. Loving barbecue month. We had it for our graduation party this past weekend.
