Life is a Special Occasion!

International Jazz Day is always celebrated on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.
International Jazz Day celebrates Jazz music and history, as well as Jazz musicians. Jazz music was born in America in the 1800's. Over the years, it has become popular around the world. Everyone has their favorite style
of music, and many say Jazz is tops.
The birthplace and home of Jazz music is New Orleans, Louisiana. Until you visit New Orleans and attend a real Jazz show in an authentic setting, you can't fully appreciate the culture and beauty of this great style of music.
No matter what you do to celebrate this less than legendary holiday, just have fun and enjoy the music and the company that you keep on International Jazz Day.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Jazz will endure just as long people hear it through their feet instead of their brains.
John Philip Sousa
While music is normally a part of our Memorial Day celebrations, Jazz usually isn’t one of them that I think of. I do like Jazz and at one time it was my favorite kind of music, but overtime I’ve discovered I like just about any kind of music to some extent.
God Bless the U.S.A by Lee Greenwood is one of my favorite patriotic songs. This song has a great Memorial Day message and is one of America’s favorite patriotic songs. Lee Greenwood wrote the song, and in 1985 God Bless the U.S.A. won a Country Music Award for Song of the Year. I still remember the first time I heard it with fireworks in the background. Made me very proud to be an American.
We have a chance of showers here today so the music I may be hearing could just be from the raindrops falling on the porch roof. I love to sit outside and listen to the rain. Very relaxing and soothing too.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Hamburger Day!
Nothing says summertime like a big, juicy hamburger. This recipe will make for a delicious juicy burger every time. The picture above is DS#4 who is known as the burger king and has a medal to prove it. : )
Best Ever Juicy Burger
1/2 cup Mayonnaise
1/2 cup plain dry bread crumbs
1 envelope Onion Soup Mix
2 lbs. ground beef or ground turkey
Combine the mayonnaise, bread crumbs and Soup Mix in a separate bowl then add the mixture into your ground beef or turkey before shaping into 8 patties. Grill to your desired doneness, throw some lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise on the bun and you’re done.
Remember that a burger isn’t complete until it’s sandwiched between two tasty buns. Whether plain, sesame, an English muffin or more, try brushing the open bun with some butter or olive oil and placing it on the top of the grill for a few minutes. This will give just the right warm and tasty bite with the perfect crunch and softness for your Best Ever Juicy Burger. Happy Hamburger Day!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage, and confidence.
Og Mandino
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3898. for music, it inspires the soul
3899. for hamburgers, a favorite summertime treat
3900. for my air conditioner, very old, but still works
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

That is a great recipe for this weekend. Nothing like a good burger! I too like that Lee Greenwood song. I am glad to live in this country of ours. Hubby likes jazz, I enjoy listening to it with him.
