THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The first duty to children is to make them happy, If you have not made them so, you have wronged them, No other good they may get can make up for that.
Charles Buxton
We celebrated this little grandson’s birthday last Saturday and as promised I took pictures to share with you all. It was a Super Hero themed party which turned out to be a lot of fun for all.
Today is also National Missing Children Day. This day is your chance to play a part in finding missing and exploited children. There's a whole lot of reasons why a child goes missing. And, none of them are good.
Unfortunately, child abductions can happen to any child, any family. No one is immune to child predators. This is not said to scare you. It’s said to help promote awareness and education to help us all guard against it.
In 1983 President Ronald Reagan proclaimed May 25 National Missing Children’s Day. Since then, U.S. presidents have annually marked this day.
It’s another beautiful start to the day here at my house, but rain is moving in.
Take good care everyone!
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Today is National Wine Day.
People have been drinking wine since the early days. There are plenty of references to wine in the Bible. Wine has thankfully been around for thousands of years.
There are many varieties of grapes, giving us the opportunity to make and enjoy, hundreds of different varieties of wines. Made from fermented grapes, wine is easy to make. As a result, there are many home vintners among us.
Remember, if you do drink, don't drive. Always have a designated driver.
There are loads of recipes that include wine and so today I found this one to share. It’s a new one for me and I hope to try it out soon.
Spicy Pesto Pasta
Serves 4
1 pound rotini pasta
1 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 Tbsp flour
1/2 Tbsp garlic powder
Pinch dried parsley
1/4 cup sweet white wine
4 Tbsp basil pesto
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup hot sauce
Pecorino romano, grated
Cook pasta according to package directions, draining when cooked. In a large saute pan, combine butter, flour, garlic powder and parsley over medium heat. Cook 1 minute, stirring often, until thickened. Stir in wine. Stir in pesto, milk, and hot sauce. Cook 2 to 5 minutes, stirring often, or until fully heated.
Remove pesto mixture from heat, stir in pasta, and top with grated pecorino romano.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Of all nature's gifts to the human race, what is sweeter to a man than his children?
Marcus Tullius Cicero
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
3889. for our little X Factor, he is 4 years old today
3890. for pasta, so many ways to fix it
3891. for a taste of summer, it’s in the 80’s here today
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots; the other, wings.
William Hodding Carter, Jr.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

Happy birthday to X Factor!! So cute about the party! Neat that the kids could dress up and have fun!
That recipe does look good; going to try it some time.

While on my way home from taking Darian to work this morning I heard on the radio it was National Missing Children's Day. It make me take in what he was wearing in case he became missing. (He's 18, but I wouldn't want him to become missing). I do have their fingerprints tucked away in the fire-proof safe! National Wine Day!! I need to stop by the store and pick up a bottle to celebrate!!
Happy Birthday too little X Factor. Pretty Party Theme and he sure is a cutie.
