It’s Red Nose Day. People across the country are wearing Red Noses and organizing FUN raisers all to help kids who need it most. It’s funny. And fun. Sharing a laugh brings people together. Red Nose Day is a campaign dedicated to helping children and having fun. Proceeds benefit children and young people in the US and some of the poorest communities in the world.
Laugh. Give. Save a kid.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine he sees all day.
Quoted in P.S. I Love You, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
I happened to hear about this holiday on TV yesterday morning and so thought I’d let you all know about it. Red Noses, like the nose of a clown, always make me smile. Everyone needs a smile and none more than the underprivileged. Smiles are good to give and good to get and nothing can make me happier than to make a child smile.
I don’t have any pictures of red noses to share but I do have some more pictures of Spring flowers to share. Everyday brings something new here at my house. The pictures above and below are of the lupine that is really doing an outstanding job this year. It’s bigger than it’s ever been and has at least 6 buds on it right now.
We contine to be very warm with temps in the 80’s and the say the chances of showers are now spotty. So that’s a good thing.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday !
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Blueberry Cheesecake Day is here to commemorate the most common topping which combines the tradition of creamy goodness with the modern love of healthy natural berries.
I found this recipe for blueberry cheesecake crumb cake! It's got a layer of tender cake, creamy cheesecake, fresh blueberries and a chunky graham cracker crumb topping.
For the graham crumb topping
⅓ c. granulated sugar
⅓ c. brown sugar
¾ c. cake flour
¾ c. graham cracker crumbs (finely ground)
½ tsp. ground cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
¼ tsp. salt
8 tbsp., 1 stick, unsalted butter, melted
For the cheesecake layer
12 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
¼ c. granulated sugar
¼ tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg, room temperature
For the cake
1¼ c. cake flour
½ c. granulated sugar
¼ tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
6 tbsp. unsalted butter, room temperature
1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
Zest of 1 lemon
1½ tsp. vanilla extract
½ c. buttermilk, room temperature
9 oz. fresh blueberries
To make the topping: In a medium size mixing bowl, whisk together the sugars, cake flour, graham cracker crumbs, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Pour in the melted butter and stir with a spatula until a thick crumble forms. Allow to sit while preparing the remainder of the cake.
To make the cheesecake layer: In a medium size mixing bowl beat together the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla extract. Add the egg and beat until smooth.
To make the cake: Preheat oven to 325. Spray an 8 inch or 9 inch square baking dish or round springform pan with baking spray, set aside.
In bowl of a stand mixer, mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt on low. With mixing speed on low, gradually add the butter one tablespoon at a time. Continue mixing until crumbs form, about 2 minutes. Add the egg and yolk, mix, then add the lemon zest, vanilla, and buttermilk. Beat on medium high speed until light and fluffy, about 1 to 2 minutes, scraping the bottom of the bowl half way through.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading into an even layer. Pour the cheesecake layer on top, again, spreading into an even layer. Cover with blueberries, then the crumb mixture.
Place in the oven and bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean, and the center of the cake just barely jiggles. Baking time will vary depending on the type and size of the pan you use. Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.
Mother Teresa
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I saw the Walgreens Drugstore here having a Red Nose campaign. I didn't quite get what it was, so I'm glad you explained it, Ma. Seems like a great fundraiser campaign indeed to help children :)
I like that recipe for the blueberry cheesecake. Cheesecake in pretty much any form is a favorite of mine.
betty
The grands and I were in Walgreens last week and I saw a lot of the red noses for sale. I tried to buy them a couple. They weren't interested!! There is a day for everything, isn't there?
