Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today, Sun Screen Day, educates and brings awareness to the importance of using sunscreen to protect yourself and your children from harmful UV rays from the sun. This day is held on May 27th, just in advance of the summer and vacation season.
Ultraviolet rays from the sun is a serious risk to your health. With the steady depletion of the ozone layer above the earth, more and stronger UV rays get through.
Overexposure to the sun can cause a number of health problems. It can cause skin cancer, and sunspots. It can also result in premature aging of your skin.
Doctors and medical professionals advocate the use of sunscreen, to guard against health problems. They recommend an Skin Protection factor of 15 or more. Sunscreens should be used for all outdoor activities, including swimming.
And yes, sun screens should be used on cloudy days. UV rays can penetrate through the clouds.
Celebrate Sun Screen Day in the sun with your sun screen protection!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Summer is the time when one sheds one’s tensions with one’s clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all’s right with the world.
Ada Louise Huxtable
Now that days are getting warmer many of us will be spending more and more time outdoors. It’s good to remember too that as it gets warmer, we should all drink more water. It’s very easy to get dehydrated when it’s hot outside. It’s not officially summer yet, but it does feel like it is here today.
I had hoped to get all my indoor work completed before the nicer whether set in, but that is not the case. I still have many things I’d like to get done, but they will wait until a rainy day comes along. The outdoors is my favorite place to be, especially sitting on the porch.
Things on my street are about to get very interesting. It seems that our gas pipe lines are being replaced and the crews have been by checking things out. Right at the corner they have already started digging. At least it is warmer and if they shut the gas off it will be ok as I won’t need the furnace, but I do have a gas water heater, so cold showers may be in the offing. I hope not.
I live in an older neighborhood and chances are the gas lines are old too. They do need replacing for everyones safety, but with all that will come a lot of disruption. Not only to my hot water but to the landscaping here too. Hopefully no damage will be done to the flowers or the bushes with all their digging.
I’m taking pictures of their progress and you see in two of my pictures today the corner of the street where work has begun.
Meanwhile it’s to be warm and I intend to spend as much time on the porch as I can.
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS

ADVICE FOR TODAY
The swing on your porch is a better liver of life than the chair in front of your computer.

It is so important to use sun screen. My sister died of skin cancer at the age of 43. I am very careful about the sun on my skin.
Hope you have a wonderful day.

I liked the porch rules sign :)
It is always good to have gas pipes and water pipes fixed before they break. I know a lot of times on the news in San Diego area they would have pictures of water pipes that broke; lots of waste of water until they were fixed. I do hope the gas pipes in your area get replaced quickly and safely :)
Always good to wear sunscreen indeed!

Oh dear I do hope you don't have to be without your gas for very long! I take sunscreen very seriously. I am always giving Todd heck for sitting outside without his hat on or sunscreen. He is a sun worshipper on sunny warm days. I stay in the house with the doors open. I enjoy it but in the shade I wish we had a veranda/porch as that is where I would be! Have a fabulous Thursday! xoxo
Nothing like sitting on a front porch, doing nothing...just SITTING!! xx
