The last of our beautiful tulips for this year
Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is World Hypertension Day. It was created by the World Hypertension League in 2005, the day is intended to increase awareness of the condition and issues surrounding it. Awareness of hypertension is considered to be vitally important, due to the number of deaths linked with associated heart attacks, kidney disease and strokes. There is also a perceived lack of awareness about hypertension amongst the general public, which the WHL hopes to change.
The day generally takes on a specific theme. For example, in the past, one of the themes was ‘Healthy diet, healthy blood pressure’, which aimed to improve people’s understanding of how poor diets can contribute towards high blood pressure and how a more healthy diet can help to rectify the problem.
So join in, test your blood pressure, learn about hypertension and stay healthy.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
For fast-acting relief, try slowing down.
Lily Tomlin
Stressful moments happen to all of us, but when stress leads to health problems it is time to do something about it. Or maybe I should say do something about it before it leads to problems.
There are lots of ways to handle it but the best way I know is to turn those things that are causing stress over to God in prayer. He handles those things we cannot.
Stress does a lot of damage to our bodies and can make us very sick. I know a lot of very busy people that rarely take a moment out for themselves. But remember the best way you can be of help to someone else is to help yourself first. If you get run down and sick you aren’t going to be able to do much at all.
High blood pressure is effecting more and more people every day due to the stress filled conditions the live in.
Today is Sunday, my day of rest and relaxation, renewal and refreshment. I can only advise you all to do the same. The good Lord created Sundays as a day of rest for a reason.
I’ll be off to church this morning and then fix dinner for family as it’s the 3rd Sunday of the month already. May is flying by.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing day ! Happy Sunday !

PRAYER FOR BUSY PEOPLE
SLOW ME DOWN, LORD
Slow me down, Lord, Slow me down!
Ease the pounding of my heart
By the quieting of my mind.
Give me amid the confusion of my day
The calmness of the everlasting hills.
Break the tensions of my nerves and muscles
With soothing music of the singing stream
That lives in my memory.
Help me to know the magical restoring power of sleep.
Teach me the art of taking minute vacations,
Of slowing down to look at a flower,
To chat with a friend, to pat a dog,
To read a few lines from a good book.
Remind me each day of the fable
Of the Hare and the Tortoise,
That I may know that the race is not always to the swift
There is more to life than increasing speed.
Let me look upward into the branches of the flowing oak
And know that it is great and strong
because it grew slowly and well.
Slow me down, Lord, and inspire me
To send my roots deep into the soil of life's enduring values
That I may grow towards the stars of my great destiny. Amen

COUNTING MY GIFTS
How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then to rest afterward.
Spanish Proverb
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering.
Pooh's Little Instruction Book, inspired by A.A. Milne
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

I have a copy of that Prayer for Busy People in my desk drawer!
Wishing you a wonderfully-satisfying meal-time with those you love! :)
I hadn't seen that Prayer for Busy People before; I do like it! I may print it out and keep it handy by my work area!
Such pretty tulips! I haven't seen any growing here, so it was nice to see them on your blog, Ma.
Enjoy your day of relaxation and family time!

You have some pretty things blooming at your place! I worked outside all weekend...it was great!
Actually...it doesn't feel like work until after I'm all done, then my body says it was work.
I trust dinner with your family was enjoyable.
Have a wonderful week!

Love all that you post Pam. I have been on medication for High Blood Pressure since I was in my early forties. Now almost sixty, I doubt I will ever be off it. Sigh . . . Hoping you had a lovely dinner with the family and that you have a lovely week ahead! xoxo
