Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is National Train Day. This special day was created by the National Railroad Passenger Corporation. It was recently created, and first celebrated in 2008. One would think that this special day would have been created many, many years ago. On May 9, 1869 the tracks of the two railroad companies met up at Promontory Summit, Utah. A golden spike was driven into the final connection of the two tracks. The first Continental rail line was 1,776 miles long. Towns, big and small, would soon sprout up along the route.Train service would be connected from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, making the world a whole lot smaller. It would also change the face of America.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Train Of Life
Some folks ride the train of life
Looking out the rear,
Watching miles of life roll by,
And marking every year.
They sit in sad remembrance,
Of wasted days gone by,
And curse their life for what it was,
And hang their head and cry.
But I don't concern myself with that,
I took a different vent,
I look forward to what life holds,
And not what has been spent.
So strap me to the engine,
As securely as I can be,
I want to be out on the front,
To see what I can see.
I want to feel the winds of change,
Blowing in my face,
I want to see what life unfolds,
As I move from place to place.
I want to see what's coming up,
Not looking at the past,
Life's too short for yesterdays,
It moves along too fast.
So if the ride gets bumpy,
While you are looking back,
Go up front, and you may find,
Your life has jumped the track.
It's all right to remember,
That's part of history,
But up front's where it's happening,
There's so much mystery.
The enjoyment of living,
Is not where we have been,
It's looking ever forward,
To another year and ten.
It's searching all the byways,
Never should you refrain,
For if you want to live your life,
You gotta drive the train.

I’ve seen a lot of quotes about trains and life and when I read both the one above and the one to follow I thought they were worth sharing so that is what I have for you today.
Life is like a train ride. You get on. You get off. You get on and ride some more. There are accidents along the way. There are delays. Sometimes there are surprises.
When you are born, you first board the train. Along the way, you meet people who you think will be with you for the entire journey. Some will become important to you, and others you will not be able to remember.
You must constantly strive to understand your travel companions and look for the best in everyone. We are all on this train together. You should try to make the journey as pleasant and memorable as you can, right up until the end of your final stop and you get off the train for the last time.
I wish for you all the best as you continue your journey of life. Enjoy each and every day.
I hope you all have a super Saturday and enjoy your day, it’s a great life!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
He enjoys much who is thankful for little.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
2745. for life, it is like a journey we all must make
2746. for quotes to share that make us think
2747. for trains, what a difference they have made
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
I think the thing to do is enjoy the ride while you're on it.

Oh, but this brings back sweet memories of riding the Super Chief with my mother each summer to her folks farm in Minnesota.
Love both poems, but the second one sure spoke to my heart.
How cute with the train day :) We traveled back and forth on the train several times from Pennsylvania to California before we settled in California; it was fun riding the trains and sleeping on them :)
