THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It takes a heap o' livin' in a house t' make it home
Edgar A. Guest
I do love the poems that Edgar Guest wrote. I’m sure I’ve shared a few with you before. I’ve also shared many of his quotes before. His simple down to earth style is easy to read and filled with meaning. Home is a place that is special to many of us and you could tell by his writing that he had a great love of home, family and friends.
A thunderstorm woke me up this morning and they say we’ll probably get more of the same later on. Looks like it may be that way into next week too. The temps have gone up into the mid to upper 80’s though and I’m sorry to say the a/c will be coming back on here. It was nice to have a break from it for awhile.
The pretty yellow flowers in today’s post are from the cactus plant that grows in the back yard here. I took the pictures earlier this summer. It is very hardy and survives our cold winters. Apparently it doesn’t mind the rain either.
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Life is a gift to be used every day, Not to be smothered and hidden away
Edgar A. Guest
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached 1900 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1961. for great poets like Edgar A. Guest, he is a favorite of mine
1962. for the flowers blooming in the yard, they always delight me
1963. for our power that stayed on through the storms overnight, some weren’t so blessed
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's

Mr. Guest sure did write a lot of poetry! Obviously he had a passion for it :)
We are supposed to get some thunder storms possibly today and tomorrow, which is unusual for us, but it brought a little cooler weather so we didn't have to worry about running fans for a few days, which is nice :)
Enjoy your Wednesday, Ma!
betty
