Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Are you ready for a fun day of some great bargain shopping? Then today is the day because each year on August 17th, National Thrift Shop Day is celebrated across the United States.
Saving money is on the minds of everyone these days and shopping at thrift stores is becoming more and more popular. Clothing, furniture and household goods are great finds among the other hidden treasures within the walls of thrift shops across the country. To some, shopping at a thrift store isn’t even about the price, that’s just a bonus, but instead, it’s about the adventure of finding vintage and antique items.
On National Thrift Shop Day, watch for specials at the Thrift Shops in your area and have a Happy National Thrift Shop Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
He who does not economize will have to agonize.
Confucius
Being thrifty means looking for ways to cut down on your spending. I’ve always been a thrifty person in that respect because I’m always looking for ways to get more out of my limited budget. I don’t remember a time that I had more money than I needed. So for me it’s become a way of life.
Being thrifty doesn’t mean giving up on all the luxuries and things which make you happy. It means you think of your daily spending habits and choose cheaper alternatives. As for me, I’m rich beyond belief with the things money can’t buy. Being rich or poor does not define the ability to be thrifty or not. A rich person can be thrifty without being a Scrooge and a poor person can be thrifty while still enjoying the good things in life.
I do love thrift stores. The best buy so far this summer was a little fire engine for my grand babes to enjoy. It needed some new batteries and a wire was loose that my son fixed, but the hours of enjoyment far outweigh the little bit of money I paid for it. It was 2nd hand, but I’m sure they didn’t mind at all.
It’s Sunday once more and today is the day to rest and relax and have a little fun!
Happy Sunday everyone!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I believe that thrift is essential to well-ordered living.
John D. Rockefeller
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached 1900 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

I like to go to the thrift stores hwere to get shirts; since I work at home, I can get by wearing tee shirts or sweat shirts. Why pay $30 for something I can get for less than 3 dollars at a thrift store? I am trying to learn to be more thrifty around the house, turning lights off if we don't need them etc. Always good to look for ways to save money!
