Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
National Aviation Day is in honor of the birthday of aviator Orville Wright. The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, were pioneer aviators in the United States. Orville was the first person to successfully fly an airplane. His first flight was December 17, 1903 at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This inaugural flight was soon to change the skies forever. This special day was created by a presidential proclamation by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Flying might not be all plain sailing, but the fun of it is worth the price.
Amelia Earhart
Thanks to some of my children I’ve enjoyed several airplane trips. If it wasn’t for the fact that a couple of them live pretty far away, there’d be no reason at all for me to fly. I love flying and sit in a window seat when I can because I love the view from up in the air. It gives you a whole different perspective. The pictures today were taken looking out on a full moon during one of those flights.
There is no flying for me this week or any time soon. Here we are celebrating Fair Week. It is very typical for the week of our county fair that it will rain and that is what is being predicted for this week too. Most every day has a chance of it, some more than others. I don’t know if I’ll go at all since dodging rain drops is not my thing, but I know that DS#5 will be there as he sets up his booth to draw his caricature sketches there every year. I’ll be hoping the weather men have got it wrong this time and he’ll do well at the fair this week.
I do love seeing the sights at the fair and I usually stock up on honey as they have a barn where area people see their honey. The food is always good too and I love the sausage sandwiches they have. The same folks always have them for sale and they do a great job of it. I’m set on a sausage sandwich now and will be having one here at home if I don’t make it to the fair. I have some good sausage links in the freezer that I can brown up along with some peppers and onions then simmer in a tomato sauce and serve up on a toasted bun. Sometimes I melt a little cheese on top too.
I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
You define a good flight by negatives: you didn't get hijacked, you didn't crash, you didn't throw up, you weren't late, you weren't nauseated by the food. So you're grateful.
Paul Theroux
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached 1900 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1958. for airplane trips, mine take me to see loved ones far away
1959. for our county fair, a place to enjoy fun times and good food
1960. for sausage sandwiches, I’ll be having one soon
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
Aviation is proof that given, the will, we have the capacity to achieve the impossible.

That sausage sandwich sounds delicious, Ma! I think we'll try them soon! How fun with fair week! Funny how the weather is always a bit rainy though. Like my brother, he goes beach camping the 3rd week of August every year. Every year the 3rd week of August is a bit on the cool side and cloudy. I'm kind of glad he went camping this week, cooled things down a bit :)
Great pictures of the moon from the plane!
I hope your son does great with his business at the fair this week!
