Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
It’s National Senior Citizens Day! Today we celebrate the people who are part of the fastest growing demographic in the world. According to the traditional definition, a senior citizen is anyone older than 60 years of age, but this seems relatively young in today’s society! On this day, we are encouraged to recognize and show appreciation for the value and contributions the elderly have given our home, family and society.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
While one finds company in himself and his pursuits, he cannot feel old, no matter what his years may be
Amos Bronson Alcott
Since I’m now well over 60 years of age, I will be celebrating this holiday for sure. The best part of being the age I am is that I’m retired and no longer have to work outside my home to make a living. There are definitely some pluses to being the age I am and I’d never want to be young again. I enjoy the age I am.
Of course one of the best benefits I have that came with age is the fact that I’m a grand’ma’. I enjoy that so much that words couldn’t begin to express the happiness that my grandchildren bring. The picture above is of DS#6 and his family. The picture below is of DS#5 and his youngest, our Cutie Patootie, inside the playhouse
Age is supposed to bring wisdom, but take it from one that knows, I’m still learning new things every day. More and more I’m realizing that there is always more to learn. I think that makes life more fun and I’m always looking for ways to improve and make the most of everyday.
No matter what your age is I hope you all have a great day! Happy Thursday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Children are a great comfort in your old age — and they help you reach it faster, too.
Lionel Kauffman
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached 1900 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1964. for all the years I’ve lived, I have many happy memories
1965. for being retired and loving it
1966. for children and grandchildren that make me SMILE
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.
Leroy "Satchel" Paige
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Today is Aug. 21st, Thursday, so that means Christmas Day will be on a Thursday! My sister figured this out when our little sister was born on Aug. 21st. It works every time, I promise.
We didn't have much money, so I think we must have just looked at calendars for fun! LOL.
Cute pictures of your family, Ma! I like the thought of a national senior citizen day. Hubby is in that age range, I have a few more years to go. We are starting to look at the senior menus when we go out to eat, realizing we in some cases are eligible for them :)

I did not know that the "age" quote was attributed to Satchel Paige, who lived and is buried in Kansas City (where I live in a suburb)!
Sweet family pictures. And I learned something new from Kay G. s comment. Since it is 10 pm I have missed most of Senior Citizen Day, however I will observe it by saying good night and hope it was good for you all.
