Life is a Special Occasion!

August 14th is National Creamsicle Day and today we celebrate a tasty summer cooler. The heat and humidity of August beckons us to discover, and to enjoy, a cool treat. A creamsicle is an excellent choice . This is one of several chilly ice cream and frozen snack days to enjoy on a hot, sticky August day. Just make sure to eat your creamsicle quickly before it melts.
Happy National Creamsicle Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Age does not diminish the extreme disappointment of having a scoop of ice cream fall from the cone.
Jim Fiebig
My pictures today are not of creamsicles but of ice cream cones and root beer floats we enjoyed here at my house this past Sunday. The little ones had cones, while we adults had root beer floats. They were enjoyed by all. My thanks to DD for capturing the pictures.
It’s been dark when I’ve been waking up these days. I am already missing the hours of sunlight that are gone now. The days are definitely getting shorter. It seems like just yesterday it wasn’t dark outside until 9:30.
On the bright side of things, I suppose that is a good thing as soon everyone will return to school and that means going to bed earlier and getting up earlier too. For me it means I sleep more. I don’t need to get up earlier but I still do. Getting up in the dark isn’t half as pleasant as getting up with the sunrise.
I hope you all have a great day. Happy Thursday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Ice cream is happiness condensed.
Jessi Lane Adams
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached 1900 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1943. for creamsicles, ice cream cones, and root beer floats !
1944. for the hours of daylight we still have, the days will only be getting shorter
1945. for summer days, I’ll miss them when they are gone
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
My advice to you is not to inquire why or whither, but just enjoy your ice cream while it's on your plate.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

That root beer float of yours looks great Ma! So cute with the little ones enjoying their ice cream cones :)
I do like creamsicles; we're taking the dessert to our small group tomorrow, might have to get couple of boxes of those to take; would indeed be refreshing!
Yep, in the evenings here it is dark before 8 o'clock whereas just a month ago we would have light way after 8:30. Was just thinking of this last night when walking Koda, we'll have to keep adjusting it earlier and earlier if we want to walk in any light.
