Life is a Special Occasion!

August 24th, Vesuvius Day, marks the date in 79 A.D. that Mount Vesuvius exploded.
August 24, 79 A.D. was an historic date for the world. This was the day that Mount Vesuvius erupted in a huge explosion. It was one of the largest volcanic explosions in recorded history.
This deadly volcano destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Stabiae. They were buried by volcanic ash and pumice. An estimated 3,360 people died in the volcano's eruption.
It has been suggested that we party as hard as all those Romans wish they had the day before Mount Vesuvius erupted.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When the sun is shining I can do anything; no mountain is too high, no trouble too difficult to overcome.
Wilma Rudolph
While every day is a day to celebrate, days like Vesuvius Day aren’t something very good at all, but they are a reminder that life is short and we should live our lives the best we can every day. Our planet is an ever changing environment whose basic processes are beyond human control. We really never know from one day to the next what may happen, so living one day at a time and making the most of each day is the best way to go.
It has been said that if we have faith enough, we can move mountains. No matter how small our faith is, it is powerful enough to change any situation if we put focus on the possibilities. Many times instead of asking for help we first see if we can get pass our mountains by ourselves, and when we are hopelessly muddled in a sea of tangles we offer it up to God for repair. Faith motivates us to size up our mountains and see the possibilities even though they loom large and sometimes block out the sunlight of all our hopes and dreams. Every day brings new possibilities all we can do is have faith and do the best we can.
The pictures today are of some of my family at our county fair Saturday afternoon. It was a hot day and we all enjoyed some ice cream.
Hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.
Matthew 17:20
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached 1900 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Live your life each day, as you would climb a mountain. An occasional glance towards the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point.

hi county fairs are the best ones, specially for kids and ice cream. The NAPA valley has had an earthquake I see, interesting it is on the same day, same month as the tragedy you wrote about. Today is going to be good however, it's a Sunday!
Glad you got to the fair, Ma, and got to enjoy some ice cream :)
So true that our world is constantly changing, so good to have faith that God has it all under control, no matter what may be going on!

Oh how I miss county fairs. I always used to love entering my pickles, jams and baked goods and sometimes even sewing goods. I loved that first pic of your grandson and the ice cream cone! What a cutie pie! You are a lucky woman! xxoo
