Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
August 2nd is National Ice Cream Sandwich Day. Today is a good time to enjoy a cold sandwich. An ice cream sandwich. In the summertime, we find many special days for one kind of ice cream or another. The ice cream sandwich is so popular, and tastes so good, that it earns its own special day today.
Ice cream sandwiches have been around since the early 1900s. Vanilla, chocolate and a combination of the two, are the most popular. You can make homemade sandwiches. Just put some ice cream between a couple wafers, and Voila! Don't have wafers? That's okay. Put some ice cream between two of your favorite cookies.
Here's a sweet start to National Sandwich Month - National Ice Cream Sandwich Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Too few people understand a really good sandwich.
James Beard
I love sandwiches. Let's face it, life is better between two pieces of bread.
I’ve got to say that I do enjoy sandwiches. I like ice cream sandwiches for dessert but a good sandwich for lunch or dinner is great too. They make a good meal with the right ingredients. One of my favorites now that ripe tomatoes are in season is a tomato sandwich with a big dab of mayo on the bread and sliced tomatoes.
A sandwich can be a meal in itself consisting of all the elements you need for a devine meal. Another summertime favorite is the club sandwich. To make a Club Sandwich you toast a slice of bread evenly and lightly butter it. On one half put, first, a thin slice of bacon, next a slice of the white meat of either turkey or chicken. Over one half of this place a circle cut from a ripe tomato and over the other half a tender leaf of lettuce. Cover these with a generous layer of mayonnaise, and complete this delicious whole meal sandwich with the remaining piece of toast. It is notable for having two layers which are separated by an additional slice of bread. Some place shaved ham on top along with a slice of swiss cheese too. What ever you enjoy, it is a meal in itself!
My newest grand babe entered the world yesterday, August 1st, at 8:17 pm. My nickname for her is Precious. And I hope to be able to share some pictures of her with you all very soon. Congratulations to DS#6 and his wife on their new baby girl.
Our weather prediction here for the first full week of August is party to mostly sunny with a few chances of showers with temps in the upper 70’s to low 80’s all week long. Not a bad start at all I’m thinking.
I hope you all have a super Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Sandwiches are wonderful. You don't need a spoon or a plate!
Paul Lynde
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached 1900 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

Congrats to all on Precious' birth!!! I hope you get to see her soon, Ma!
I love ice cream sandwiches, so much that I can't buy them, I'll eat two or three a day if I have them around :)
I also like sandwiches made with bread and cheese and meat :) I remember one summer growing up we ate a lot of toasted sandwiches with pickles, cheese, and tomatoes; delicious!

Congratulations on grand-babe's BIRTH-day, Ma. I can't wait to see your pictures!
I hadn't thought of ice-cream sandwiches in ages! How my sweet mother loved making them out of graham crackers and 'ice milk' (we couldn't afford real ice cream). Unfortunately, I never caught onto that delicacy -- but it sure was sweet to get a visual prompt once more!
