Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Every August 23rd is Ride the Wind Day.
Ride the Wind Day is a carefree day to soar above the earth. You can catch a ride with the breeze, or float along slowly like a gentle, late summer cloud. There’s no better feeling than the wind in your hair as you look out at a beautiful horizon.
Summer will soon be over. Catching the drift of this day is easy. Just relax, and let the wind carry you away in whatever direction it is blowing. Leave your troubles and worries behind for a spell, as you waft in the air. Just kick back and enjoy one of the last days of summer !
Happy Ride the Wind Day! Wishing the wind is always at your back!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind. The answer is blowin' in the wind.
written by Bob Dylan in 1962
Sometimes the answers are either so obvious it is right in your face, or the answer is as intangible as the wind
We all know that cooler air is right around the corner so it’s a good time take advantage of these nice days and be outside as much as possible. These warm summer breezes won’t be around for much longer. There is not much we can do about the weather, but I for one am going to enjoy summer while it is still here.
The pictures today are more of our trip along the Ohio River. It was a beautiful day and the winds were at our back.
It’s been a bit steamy here with higher temps and lots of humidity, but I’d take this to a cold winter day anytime. Thankfully I have air conditioning so I can go inside and cool off when I want. I’ve been quite lazy this summer and have had more naps on the porch that I’d care to mention, but summer time for me is a time to slow down. These lazy days will soon be over.
Cooler weather will mean it’s time to get busy once again and for many that has meant the beginning of a new school year. This coming Monday school will begin here and some of my grandchildren have already started. So I thought I’d include a little prayer today for those returning to school.
Gracious God,
As summer begins to fade, new possibilities lie on the horizon.
Bless all those that are beginning or returning to their roles as teachers
May this coming year be a time of grace as they teach others to grow
in faith, wisdom and knowledge.
Bless children and their parents as they begin a new school year
May their minds be open to learning and to the wonder of discovery and insight.
Be with them all as they embark on this new school year.
Amen
There are many teachers in my family as well as students. I wish you all the happiest of school years ever !
Have a super Saturday everyone !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
Irish Blessing
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached 1900 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1970. for warm summer breezes
1971. for a opportunities that come on the winds of change
1972. for all teachers, they are very special people
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
If you surrender to the wind, you can ride it.

A bit of love from someone dear…

I was surprised this morning when I got up and noticed the house had a chill to it and it was 71 degrees in here, not the usual 76 to 77 degrees we've been running the past few weeks. So our outside temps were dipping a bit, at least for last night. Fall is definitely starting to creep in, indeed! I think it was good, Ma, that you took the advantage of napping on your porch during the summer days.
