Bird Day is always May 4th. People love birds. Bird watching is a favorite pastime of millions of people. It is the most popular of hobbies, and can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of age. According to the U.S. Library of Congress, Bird Day was first observed on May 4, 1894.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Tis sweet as the day begins to dawn,
When the lark her song is singing,
To wander at will through the grassy lawn
Where fresh flowers around are springing.
’Tis sweet at that solemn hour to go
O’er the rocky slope, all alone,
Where the scattering streamlets freely flow...
’Tis well to inhale the earthly gale,
As it sweeps the green hill’s side...
Or to look on the wood in its leafy pride,
In the glen or on the grove, the dawn is fair,
Morning is beautiful every where!
Thomas Furlong
I have always loved this time of year when the weather turns warm in northern Ohio and the birds are singing and the grass is greening. Among my many collections is this small collection of birds. To me they are a representation of how God cares for us all…even the little sparrow.
I do get to spend lots of lovely days outside on the patio just watching the birds here in my own back yard. This spring I even found a nest in the honey suckle vines on the front porch. Thankfully I’ve not spent much time there yet, so I haven’t scared the birds in away. That will change though as the weather gets warmer.
The weather man says we may get up into the 70’s later in this coming week so porch sitting may be coming sooner than later. It’s sort of grungy out there right now so I’ll have some work getting it ready too.
I’m off today for a little visit down to DS#1’s house. It’s been awhile since I’ve been there so I’m looking forward to it.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
For song of bird, and hum of bee; For all things fair we hear or see, Father in heaven, we thank Thee!
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached 1600 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

I hope you have a nice visit today and I am looking forward to that nice warm weather next week. Our weather is always similar seems. I'm seeing lots of birds, how they survived is a mystery. Happy Sunday.
Such cute birds! I too like to watch birds and listen to them sing (except the early bird that likes to start chirping around 5:30 a.m.)
I bet you enjoyed your visit with your son and his family :)
