Life is a Special Occasion!

May 16 is Wear Purple For Peace Day. Wear just a purple ribbon or regale yourself in all purple, but do so in order to help bring awareness of the lack of peace that is in some many areas of the world. If you live in a peaceful country, count yourself lucky. Peace and stability are two of the greatest gifts you can have.
Research indicates that this day originated because a group of people were concerned that aliens would not visit earth since humans are too hostile with one another. That’s a sad thought for sure.
On this day, we are encouraged to wear purple for peace in order to make the world a peaceful place

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Peace, like charity, begins at home.
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Did you know that purple is the color of good judgment. It is the color of people seeking spiritual fulfillment. It is said if you surround yourself with purple you will have peace of mind. Purple is a good color to use in meditation. Purple has been used to symbolize magic and mystery, as well as royalty. Being the combination of red and blue, the warmest and coolest colors, purple is believed to be the ideal color. Most children love the color purple and purple is the color most favored by artists.
Purple has a special, almost sacred place in nature: lavender, orchid, lilac, and violet flowers are often delicate and considered precious. I’ve already shown you the purple irises that bloom in our yard and the purple lilacs that are presently blooming. There are a few purple violets scattered here and there too. I do love the color purple, it’s a favorite of many, but my very favorite color is red and always has been.
I will put my purple on today though and pray for peace everywhere. Remember: Peace begins with a grateful heart.
I hope you all have a fantastic Friday!
Peace is always beautiful.

Great Recipe for a peace-filled life……
1. Take a 10-30 minute walk (run) every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Talk to God about what is going on in your life. Buy a lock if you have to.
3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to __________ today. I am thankful for______________!’
4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli , almonds & walnuts.
6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead, invest your energy in the positive present moment.
8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.
9. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
11. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
12. You are not so important that you have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
13. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
14. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will this matter?’
17. Forgive everyone for everything.
18. What other people think of you is none of your business.
19. GOD heals everything - but you have to ask Him.
20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
21. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch!!!
22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
23. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for __________. Today I accomplished _________.
24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
25. When you are feeling down, start listing your many blessings. You'll be smiling before you know it.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
Peace begins with a smile. Smile five times a day at someone you don't really want to smile at at all. Do it for peace.
Mother Teresa of Calcutta
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1600 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1673. for the peace that comes when God whispers in the storm.
1674. for all the lovely purple flowers this Spring
1675. for smiles, they do bring peace
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!

Peace begins with a smile. I need to keep repeating that! Thank you, MA.
I like that recipe for a peace filled life. I'm going to print it out and start doing some things on it. I like the thought of a peace starts with gratitude; that's a good thing to continue to do in living a life of gratitude.

Love all your thoughts on Peace today Pam, Especially the recipe for peace. I, too, am going to print it out! I don't think there will be true and lasting peace on the earth until the Saviour's return, but one can hope that we may be able to enjoy small pockets of it. Peace begins at home. I try to make my home an oasis of peace as much as I can. Love your thoughts as always. I am going to have to catch up with the rest tomorrow now, as my eyes have had enough, but I do so really enjoy all that you post Pam. You are a real treasure. xxoo
