If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Ear Muff Day, March 13th, celebrates a warm invention...the ear muff! People in cold climates can really appreciate this day. And, they are ever so thankful to the person who created the ear muff. If you live in Florida, you might not even know what an ear muff is. Ear muffs keep your ears warm, and protect you from ear infections and earaches resulting from icy cold wind and weather. Protect your ears from loud noises and protect them from the cold on Earmuffs Day!
It is really easy to celebrate Ear Muff Day.... just wear your ear muffs!
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A good listener is not only popular everywhere, but after a while he gets to know something.
Wilson Mizner
If you’ve every had an ear ache, you know just how important it is to protect your ears. Our ears are very important to us and we often forget to be thankful for them until they hurt or until our hearing is impaired. I’m beginning to think that I have trouble hearing. It used to be that I thought I had selective hearing as I could easily tune things out, but now I know it’s more of tuning things in that I’m having a problem with. If I want to make sure I’m hearing correctly I have to listen carefully.
Listening is a big problem for a lot of us. We tend to do a lot of talking and very little listening. I’ve found that in order to be a better listener we need to need to listen, listen, listen! We always want to put our two cents in, to guide them, correct them, or to offer advice. But, speaking too soon can shut off communication rather than further it.
No relationship can deepen and grow unless we are willing to listen and share ourselves with another. During this Lent let us try to slow down, get to know God better and be more reflective and conscious of the needs of others.
The theme for Lent this year at our church is If today you hear His voice, harden not your heart. If we harden our hearts we are not listening. This is good advice no matter who you are listening too. Be open and listen. We’ve got ears to hear.
It is better to light candles
than to curse the darkness.
It is better to plant seeds
than to accuse the earth.
The world needs all of our power
and love and energy,
and each of us has something that we can give.
The trick is to find it and use it,
to find it and give it away.
So there will always be more.
We can be lights for each other,
and through each other's illumination
we will see the way.
Each of us is a seed,
a silent promise,
and it is always spring.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.
Epictetus
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for this past year and have now reached my 1000 gifts. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1481. for my ears, that hear most of the time anyway. Hearing is a gift in itself and is often taken for granted
1482. for those that listen to others with an open heart
1483. for the One that hears all my prayers
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
‘Silent' and ‘listen' are spelled with the same letters.

That is a good theme for your church for Lent, Ma! How cute with Ear Muff Day! So true about protecting our ears and our hearing! I wonder how the future generations will be with them liking loud music and wearing ear buds all the time!
betty
Look at that cute snowman... I need to listen better, I do have a bad habit of interrupting while others are talking, especially hubby... :)
