ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
OCTOBER 19th, 2011
It's WEDNESDAY!
EVALUATE YOUR LIFE DAY
Evaluate Your Life Day is a bit scary. It may be little bit too serious for my liking. What if I evaluate my life, and find out that I don't like it????????Well, for starters, we can then make positive changes to improve the quality of your life, as necessary. Or, if things are going well, just tinker with small adjustments.Evaluate Your Life Day gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect upon our life, where it's been, and where its going.
Evaluate Your Life Day is the beginning of a happier and healthier you!
Today, fill your cup of life with sunshine and laughter.

NATIONAL SEAFOOD BISQUE DAY
It's a good time of year for hot, hearty soups. Bisque is a creamy French creation that calls for lobster, crab, shrimp, or even crayfish, all pureed into a smooth, flavorful consistency.

1 can cream of celery soup, undiluted
2 2/3 cups milk
1/2 cup finely chopped celery

1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1 1/2 pound uncooked peeled shrimp
1 can, 6 oz size, crabmeat, drained
1 jar, 4.5 oz size, mushrooms, drained
3 tablespoons Madeira wine or chicken broth

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
Life is like a blanket too short. You pull it up and your toes rebel, you yank it down and shivers meander about your shoulder; but cheerful folks manage to draw their knees up and pass a very comfortable night.
Marion Howard
Nights are getting longer and I'm sleeping more too it seems. I've got the flannels on and it's cosy for sure. Come winter I'll be hibernating like a bear.
One way of dealing with colder weather is to alter one's behavior: honey bees huddle together in their hives, and birds flock together to reduce heat loss. Mammals that are about to hibernate, such as bats and badgers, build up food reserves and store them as brown fat, which can generate prodigious amounts of heat rapidly. As they enter hibernation, their temperature drops but is carefully maintained, using their fat reserves, at just above the ambient temperature.
We humans like to think of ourselves as somehow outside the natural world, but we have a biological clock as well which has a very powerful effect on us. We feel a bit downhearted that winter is coming, with all the trials and tribulations that brings. Many are affected by SAD - the seasonal affective disorder. But whether we have Sad or merely feel it, if migration is not an option, it seems that the best way to deal with winter is to try to get outside during daylight hours as much as possible.
If you don't know it by now, I'll tell you - I don't like to be cold. I'll be putting on the layers and trying to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible but still, I will miss the sunshine and longer days.
COUNTING THE DAYS
Life: It is about the gift not the package it comes in.

64 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
68 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…

I do a time of reflection about every six weeks. Does that count?
Hope you are having a great day, Pam.
