ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
OCTOBER 18th, 2011
It's TUESDAY!
St. Luke's Little Summer
Lovely summer like days that occur around October 18 are called St. Luke's Little Summer in honor of the saint's feast day. In olden days, St. Luke's Day did not receive as much attention in the secular world as St. Johns Day and Michaelmas so to keep from being forgotten, St. Luke presented us with some golden days to cherish before the coming of winter, or so the story goes. Some folks call this Indian summer, but that officially occurs between November 11th and November 20th. Usually after the 1st hard frost.
Weather lore often has a basis of truth, as it is usually the result of long experience. Even the super modern computers used for weather forecasts a season or more ahead can be just as fallible.
If the October moon comes with out frost
Expect no frost till the moon of November
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CUPCAKE DAY
Ever since childhood, fresh, moist chocolate cupcakes have been a preferred treat at picnics, potlucks, birthdays and Halloween parties. Cupcakes got their name from the fact that they were teacup-sized individual cakes

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
The trouble with weather forecasting is that it's right too often for us to ignore it and wrong too often for us to rely on it.
Patrick Young
The weather forecast for here today is a chance of sun in the morning and rain in the evening with a high of only 52 degrees. I did hear on the news that we are stuck in a cold front here this week.
Tonight is our monthly dulcimer get together. We'll begin playing our Christmas music. Since we only meet once a month that gives us at least three times to enjoy it.
Hope your Tuesday is a terrific one!
COUNTING THE DAYS
Rain in October means wind in December

Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
