ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
OCTOBER 4th, 2011
It's TUESDAY!
TEN-FOUR DAY
That’s a big ten four, good buddy
On this forth day of the tenth month, recognize all those radio operators whose code word Ten-Four signals an affirmative response.
I think we all love to hear someone affirm that what we've done or are thinking is a good thing. Just like a hug, a smile, or a pat on the back, the words Ten-four make us feel good.
There is nothing better than the encouragement of a good friend.

NATIONAL TACO DAY
Tacos, we love 'em! Hard shell, soft shell, corn tortillas, flour tortillas, mini tacos--they're all good. And then, there are the fillings: spicy ground beef, shredded beef, pork, or chicken, cheese, lettuce, maybe some refried beans. Mmm, I'm hungry!
I found this recipe for Pie Iron Tacos so since we've a few weeks left for campfires I thought I'd share it with you all today
1 package taco seasoning mix
1 pound ground beef
12 corn tortillas (5 inch size)
1 cup shredded monterey jack cheese
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
1 large tomato, diced
1 jar (8 ounce size) salsa
1 container (8 ounce size) sour cream (optional)
Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring to crumble, until browned. Pour off excess fat, and mix in the taco seasoning according to package directions.
Spray the inside of a pie iron with cooking spray, and place a corn tortilla on one side. Place a scoop of ground beef on top of the tortilla, sprinkle with Monterey Jack cheese, and chopped onion. Finally, place another tortilla on top, and close the pie iron.
Cook the taco over the moderate coals of a campfire until the tortillas have crisped and browned, and the taco is hot in the center.
Serve with lettuce, tomato, salsa, and sour cream. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success

Other Words for Encouragement: Heartening, Reassuring, Reassurance, Buoying Up,
Words are powerful and affect all aspects of our lives. Those specially chosen for encouragement and affirmation can elevate everyones spirits including your own.
Encouragement usually comes in the form of affirmations. In Latin, affirm means to strengthen. When someone affirms me, it encourages me to do more, be better, try harder.. People like to know they make a difference in the world and that they are significant to others. Even correct and helpful criticisms need to be liberally sprinkled with encouragement.
I remember when DD was a cheerleader in high school. She spent hours cheering on the basketball and football teams. We can all be cheerleaders for our family and our friends too.
Have a wonderful Tuesday and remember to sprinkle some encouragement around today.
