ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
February 17th, 2011
It's THURSDAY!
Random Acts of Kindness week is celebrated February 14th through the 20th. People like the idea of showing a little kindness to others. Its a fun and good thing to do. It makes both the giver and the receiver feel good.
Hold the door open for someone every chance you get today! Holding the door open for someone isn’t just something people do in old movies, it is a great way to be polite and thoughtful. You can easily do this for your family, friends and strangers. Hold the door open every chance you get today—whether you’re at school, the grocery story, work, or at home, those around you will certainly appreciate your good manners. This is such an easy way to share Kindness.
Caution: What comes around, goes around. Random Acts of Kindness is highly contagious.
THINKING
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has

NEW IN THE KITCHEN
Today is National Indian Pudding Day
You can either enjoy this food holiday by making your own Indian pudding or look for a restaurant that serves authentic Native American food. We also celebrated this food holiday on November 13th and I do think it is more attuned to November and Thanksgiving. Here is a recipe to try out if you are so inclined today:
3 cups milk
1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
2 eggs
1/3 cup molasses
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
whipping cream to serve
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F
Scald milk in large pan over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and slowly whisk in cornmeal. Whisking frequently, cook about 5 minutes or until mixture thickens. Remove form heat.
In small bowl, beat eggs. Slowly whisk 1 cup cornmeal mixture into beaten eggs; gradually stir egg mixture back into hot cornmeal in pan. Add molasses, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda, and salt; stir until well blended.
Pour into a greased 2 quart baking dish. Bake 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until sides are set but center is still soft. Serve warm with whipping cream.
PRAYERS
Dear Lord, thank You for Your gracious and loving kindness toward us. We are so thankful You see our potential, in spite of the times we choose to go our own way. Help us to set aside our need to accomplish a task, and choose to love others as You desire.
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
AROUND HOME
If your dreams turn to dust... vacuum.
Unknown
I dream about sitting on the patio soaking up the sun but we are not quite there yet... guess I should get the vacuum out instead.
This afternoon DD needs a ride to the ophthalmologist so I'm helping her out. Maybe when it comes time for me to get my eyes checked, she'll do the same for me. They always want to dilate your eyes when you have an exam and driving is forbidden till your eyes clear up.
It is supposed to be in the 50's today. The snow is melting!
COUNTING THE DAYS
It's nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.

Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…

Thanks for the quote that reminds us that a small group can make a difference. I'm about to go to a ladies' prayer group - a small group - and that thought is encouraging!
