It's SATURDAY!

Today is Lost Penny Day, always on Abraham Lincoln's birthday. It's a day to gather up all those pennies stashed in jars, candy dishes, and coffee cans and get them back into circulation

Every American knows President Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. Honest Abe, as he was commonly known as, was born in the wilderness country of Hardin County, Kentucky on February 12, 1809.

Abraham Lincoln became president in 1861. Although he hated war, he was drawn into it as he believed it was the only was to save the nation after the southern states declared their secession to the Union.

In addition to serving as president during the civil war and saving the Union, Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation that ended slavery in the U.S. forever.He also wrote and gave The Gettysburg Address, memorializing the bloodiest and most important battle of the Civil War.

It's National Plum Pudding Day

Hmmm... it's barely been six weeks since Christmas? Who on earth wants Plum Pudding again so soon?

Maybe the day is for those who didn't get any at Christmas, so they don't have to wait the rest of the year for their next chance. After all, if you're in America, chances are you didn't get it at all for Christmas, and that you may never have had it in your life, even.

Fans might point out, though, that it's only in the past 200 years or so that Plum Pudding got relegated to Christmas only

Also known as Plum Duff in the Victorian era. It is a fascinating dessert that does not have any plums in it nor is it a pudding. So why plums? It is thought that it was initially plumbs which is colonial terminology for raisins, one of the key ingredients. And why pudding? Although it's not technically a pudding, this dessert has a pudding like texture created by steaming.

Easy Plum Pudding

30 Marshmallows
1/2 cup thawed frozen orange juice concentrate
1/2 cup milk
4 cups graham wafer crumbs
1 cup raisins
1 cup currants
2 cups candied mixed fruits
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1 jar Carmel Sauce
1 quart vanilla ice cream

Melt marshmallows with juice concentrate and milk in double boiler or saucepan over low heat. Stir occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat. Add to combines wafer crumbs, raisins, currants, mixed fruits, walnuts and seasonings; mix well.

Press firmly into 6-cup mold or mixing bowl lined with aluminums foil. Cover and chill at least two days. To serve, and heat 30 minutes at 350*F. Serve warm with ice cream and caramel sauce.

God our Father, open our eyes that we may sense the wonder and awe in the splendour of all your creation. From the stars that are large and far away,to people and the tiniest creatures near us each day. Help us to become more aware of how every living thing is special and to be treated well. Lead us to respect and value every person as unique and important, made in your image and likeness.

I found a penny today

Just laying on the ground,
