ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
February 4th, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's FRIDAY!
TODAY IS NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY!
Fighting heart disease has never been easier or more fashionable! Be on trend and don something red. Get your coworkers together too and raffle off something fun, maybe hold a silent auction for all those who can participate, donating the proceeds to heart disease research and prevention!
THINKING
There are very few men who realize what God would make of them if they abandoned themselves entirely to His hands, and let themselves be formed by His Grace.
St. Ignatius of Loyola.
Today: Try to use the blessings that your faith has brought you to make another's life better
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
IT'S NATIONAL STUFFED MUSHROOM DAY
Whether served as an appetizer, side dish, or even as an entree, stuffed mushrooms add a unique mix of sophistication and convenience to any menu. DD and I had some wonderful ones when we went out to eat a few weeks ago. They were seafood stuffed mushrooms with a cheesy sauce over them and maybe some buttered bread crumbs too. I couldn't find that recipe but maybe this one will be just as good
1 pound large mushrooms, washed
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 pound shrimp, chopped
2 tablespoons green onions, chopped
3 tablespoons celery, minced
2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
worchestershire sauce
salt & pepper to taste
Wash and remove stems from mushrooms. Mix together bread crumbs, shrimps, onions, pimentoes, celery, garlic, and parsely. Add salt, pepper, and Worchestershire sauce (to taste). Fill caps. Place on foil in baking dish. Bake in 350F degree oven for 20 minutes.
PRAYERS
God grant us this year a wider view,
so we see others' faults through the eyes of You
Teach us to judge not with hasty tongue
neither the adult...nor the young.
Give us patience and grace to endure
and a stronger faith so we feel secure;
and instead of remembering, help us forget
the irritations that caused us to fret
Freely forgiving for some offense
and finding each day a rich recompense.
in offering a friendly, helping hand
and trying in all ways to understand,
that all of us whoever we are...
Are trying to reach an unreachable star
For the great and small...the good and bad,
the young and old...the sad and glad,
are asking today, Is life worth living
and the answer is only in loving and giving
For only LOVE can make mankind
and Kindness of Heart brings Peace of Mind,
and by giving love we can start this year
to lift the clouds of hate and fear
Helen Steiner Rice
Amen
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
A child's world is fresh and new and beautiful, full of wonder and excitement. It is our misfortune that for most of us that clear eyed vision, that true instinct for what is beautiful, is dimmed and even lost before we reach adulthood.
Rachel Carson
It seems that children are the only ones enjoying this latest winter storm we've had. While watching the news I noticed that even they had to include some pictures of kids playing in the snow. There were even some of them who enjoyed shoveling the snow too.
Ah, to be a child again....
COUNTING THE DAYS
No man can tell whether he is rich or poor by turning to his ledger. It is the heart that makes a man rich. He is rich according to what he is, not according to what he has.
Henry Ward Beecher
44 DAYS UNTIL SPRING!
73 DAYS UNTIL CAMPING SEASON BEGINS
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma
