HAPPY FINALLY FRIDAY !!
It will be a busy day at work doing payroll again due to the fact the banks are closed on Tuesday next week which is Veterans Day.
It will seem like Monday all over again. Not a good thing.
My weekend looks to be a very quiet one with nothing but the House Blessing on my schedule. If all goes the way I hope, my house will once again be presentable. Not that anyone will see it anyway, but I’ll feel better about it. The basement and the attic are of course out of bounds for anyone but me…I don’t even like to go there.
It’ll rain by late afternoon they are saying and for most of the weekend.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
GOD BLESS YOU!
25 WORDS
God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me,
and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name
TO REMEMBER…
I am in the hands of God,
and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY’S SMILE
Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings, thank you, Lord, that I can hear. There are many who are deaf.
Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as possible, thank you, Lord, that I can see. Many are blind.
Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising, thank you, Lord, that I have the strength to rise. There are many who are bedridden.
Even though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in magazines and the menu is at times unbalanced, thank you, Lord, for the food we have. There are many who are hungry.
Even though the routine of my job often is monotonous, thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to work. There are many who have no job.
Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day and wish my circumstances were not so modest, thank you, Lord, for life!

TODAY’S REFLECTION
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
Psalm 23:2
In the second verse of the Twenty-third Psalm, David the poet becomes David the artist. His quill becomes a brush, his parchment a canvas, and his words paint a picture. A flock of sheep on folded legs, encircling a shepherd. Bellies nestled deep in the long shoots of grass. A still pond on one side, the watching shepherd on the other. “He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.”
Note the two pronouns preceding the two verbs. He makes me…He leads me…
Who is the active one? Who is in charge? The shepherd selects the trail and prepares the pasture. The sheep’s job—our job—is to watch the Shepherd.

HAPPY THURSDAY !!
The weather man says we’ll have one more beautiful day before our temps start sliding down and the rain moves in. It has just been unbelievable weather for us in this part of the county. Last week we had those white flakes falling; this week is like late summer.
I got a surprise this week when I was informed payroll must be done on Friday. I didn’t even think about it as we have no Monday holiday coming up, but it seems they need 2 days processing our paychecks and Tuesday is Veterans Day and the banks will be closed.
I dislike Friday payrolls even more than Monday ones…two in one week is just too much. Thankfully it’ll be the last day of the work week!
Wonder what I’ll do on Monday??? Looks like a long week ahead.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

A DAY OF DESTINY
(I read this yesterday and thought it worth sharing )
Today is a remarkable day in history as Barack Obama is to become the first black American President of the U.S.A He has talked a lot about change in recent months and days but he has especially asked us to believe that change is possible and that it starts with each person. Today that change has become a reality. His appeal is enormous. He is young, bright, energetic and full of life. As President of America he will inspire millions and be a source of hope for those who want something fresh and inspiring. His parents gave him an African name ‘Barack’ which translates as ‘Blessed’. As he begins a new journey today we ask God’s blessings on him. We pray that we will bring positive change, peace and a great sense of hope to people all over the U.S but also to people all over the world
I’m asking you to believe not just in my ability to bring about real change but I’m asking you to believe in yours.

I don’t know if you noticed or not but I put the days remaining until Camping Season begins in the list after How Many Days Til Winter….I based this on April 18th, but I’m not really sure exactly what day will be the first. It will be around that date so my count down is an approximate number.
I’m so glad that Wednesday has come. Even though the days have been lovely, at work they have dragged by. I look out the window and wish I was outside not in an office. Of course the weekend will bring wet days and much cooler temps.

TODAY IS…GUY FAWKES DAY
On November 5, people in England celebrate a holiday called Guy Fawkes Day. Nearly 400 years ago, Guy Fawkes and other conspirators tried to blow up a British Parliament Building in 1605. After being apprehended they were convicted and beheaded in 1606. November 5th is now celebrated as the anniversary of the plot. Ever since, Guy Fawkes Day has been a time for merrymaking. The best part comes as darkness falls. Then, straw dummies are tossed into huge bonfires. Amid cries of glee, firecrackers pop and "the Guy" goes up in a blaze of fire
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is Roy Rogers Day. The "King of the Cowboys" was born Leonard Sly in Cincinnati on this date in 1912

The longest Monopoly game in a bathtub was 99 hours long.
Escape maps, compasses, and files were inserted into Monopoly game boards and smuggled into POW camps inside Germany during W.W.II; real money for escapees was slipped into the packs of Monopoly money.
Parker Brothers prints about 50 billion dollars worth of Monopoly money in one year.
Values on the Monopoly game board are the same today as they were in 1935.
1946 - John F. Kennedy, age 29, began his political career by getting elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. He was a Congressman from Massachusetts
TODAY’S SMILE
It was a crisp, spring day full of life and energy. My four dogs seemed to feel it as well. Each one of them was delightfully sniffing the air and bouncing around me as we walked. Then as I was about to head back toward the house with them our Saint Bernard, Buddy, and our tiny Labrador mix, Pepper, both decided that it was the perfect time for a game of chase! Before I knew it my legs were wrapped up tight with the dog leashes from these two running in circles around me.
Thankfully, I was able to drop the leashes before I ended up on the ground. As I bent down to pick up the leashes again, however, my tiniest dog, Julie decided to give me a little help. She grabbed Buddy’s leash in her mouth and headed for the door. I looked on with laughter as my 10 pound Pekinese Poodle walked our 160 pound Saint Bernard back home.In addition to giving me a good laugh this sight also got me to thinking.
If a little dog like that can take the leash of a giant sized one and lead him in the right direction then there is no reason why all of us can’t take the leash on our own lives and start walking them on the path of love and joy again. Sure we may have huge problems, large struggles, and massive difficulties in our lives, but if we let that smart, little dog that is our soul take the lead they will all fall behind us. That smart, little dog will lead our hearts, minds, and lives right where they need to go. That smart, little dog will lead us back home to joy, love, and God.
Let your soul lead you in the right direction, then all of your life will follow you happily. Let your soul walk you down the path of love, joy, and oneness with God and your journey home will always be a delightful one even if you do get tangled in the leash from time to time.
Letting Your Soul Walk You By Joseph J. Mazzella
TODAY’S WORD
epicure \EP-ih-kyur\, noun:
1. a person who enjoys eating and drinking and who is very particular in choosing fine foods and beverages; gourmet
2. a person who is fond of luxury and pleasure
c.1380, "follower of Epicurus," from Latin Epicurus, from Greek Epicouros (341-270 B.C.E.), the Athenian philosopher who taught that pleasure is the highest good and identified virtue as the greatest pleasure; the first lesson recalled, the second forgotten, and the name used pejoratively for "one who gives himself up to sensual pleasure" (1641), especially "glutton, sybarite" (1774). Epicurus's school opposed by Stoics, who first gave his name a reproachful sense
TODAY’S REFLECTION
Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Colossians 3:17
Among the first words many of us were taught to say are please and thank you. No one gets quite as excited as a parent or grandparent when a toddler first utters those words and makes the connection between asking politely and receiving gratefully.
But I suspect that as we grow older we become more adept at saying please than thank you, especially with our heavenly Father. We focus more on pressing needs than on previous provisions; we petition more than we praise. And while God invites us to come to Him with all our needs, He also urges us to make gratitude a habit.
In Colossians 3:15, Paul instructed every follower of Jesus Christ to “let the peace of God rule in your hearts.” Then three times he reminded us to remain grateful to God: “be thankful” (v.15); sing with gratitude to the Lord (v.16); “do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (v.17).
Gratitude should be a continuous attitude, not just an occasional incident

HAPPY TUESDAY !!
Are you voting today??? I already did my part. I had the chance to vote on an absentee ballot this year and I did. I wanted to avoid those long lines at the voting places that they are predicting.
It was so dark and cloudy when I drove home from work yesterday that it looked like it was late evening, but the drive to work was brighter. The hour gained when we set back the clocks does provide more daylight in the early morning hours.
The only thing I have going on this week besides work is my Thursday evening Bible study. My calendar doesn’t have much on it for sure.
I had heard from DS#2 Sunday and he’s off on another trip for his work this week. I’ll be praying for his safety coming and going and also for DS#4 who should be traveling a few more times for his work too this year.

TODAY’S SMILE
We are mourning the loss of a beloved old friend who recently passed away. His name was Common Sense. Common Sense lived a long life but died in the United States from a vicious contagious disease
He selflessly devoted his life to service in schools, hospitals, homes and factories, helping folks get the jobs done without fanfare and foolishness. For decades, petty rules, frivolous lawsuits, and ludicrous verdicts held no power over Common Sense
He was credited with cultivating such valued lessons as to know when to come in from the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, and that life isn't always fair. Common Sense lived by a simple and sound financial policy. Don't spend more than you earn. Common Sense also lived by other time-tested strategies like: The adults are in charge and not the kids, and it's okay to come in second or third
A veteran of the Great Depression and the Technological Revolution, Common Sense survived cultural and educational trends such as body piercing, 'whole language' and 'new math'
But his health declined when he became infected with the I'm not responsible for my own actions and It's alright if it feels good viruses. He watched in pain as good people became ruled by self-seeking lawyers. His health rapidly deteriorated when schools endlessly implemented zero-tolerance policies. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student only worsened his condition
It declined further when schools had to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student, but could not inform the parents and get their permission when their children were given mind-altering drugs or birth control pills; and when universities turned into cesspools of debauchery and socialist propaganda
As the end neared, Common Sense drifted in and out of consciousness, but was kept informed of new questionable regulations, such as thought control and partial birth abortion. Finally, when another president, claiming to staunchly protect the country from terrorist atrocities, yet allowing the same villains to invade the country through borders that are strangely very penetrable; being fully aware of what the grave consequences of such deliberate and ominous neglect can be, Common Sense died of sudden cardiac arrest
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Love; his daughter, Responsibility; and his sons, Diligence and Reason. He is survived by three stepbrothers, Deception, Greed and Ignorance. Not many attended his funeral, because so few noticed he was gone
TODAY’S WORD
aquiline \AK-wuh-lyn; -lin\, adjective
1. curved like an eagle's beak2. of or like an eagle
1646, from Latin aquilinus "of or like an eagle," from aquila "eagle." Originally in English, referring to long, hooked noses
TODAY’S REFLECTION
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.
John 14:16
Don't you just love sidekicks? They're always taking second billing. Mentioned more as an afterthought. A footnote in the life of their famous friend. Sidekicks rarely get as much attention as the main character, but you have to give them credit. They're always there.
Outside the limelight, a sidekick is a hero's faithful friend, moral support, and right hand man. What would Lucy have done without Ethel? Where would the Lone Ranger be without Tonto?
Even in the Bible, there were dynamic duos. Moses had Aaron. David had Jonathan. Paul had Barnabas. Aaron, Jonathan, and Barnabas didn't get the kind of admiration or attention that their friends received, but they were indispensable. Without them, the heroes of Scripture would have been very lonely. The heroes needed someone to listen. Someone to trust. Someone to understand. Someone to care. Someone to share their secrets. In the Lord's service, they needed a friend, a confidant, a helper.
The Holy Spirit is our Helper. He comes to our aid whenever we need it.

HAPPY MONDAY !!
I opened up another journal at blogger because I like to have a place to enter special thoughts and also keep the monthly calendar up so the family can check it if they wish.
My Holiday Journal
http://mascalendar.blogspot.com/
With Advent coming I hope to post a few thoughts about that and there are many other things that wouldn’t interest every one so I thought I should keep separate space for such things.
The weekend flew by. As it was dark a little after 5 in the evening I felt ready for bed at 6. That is not a good thing for sure. You can now see the floor space in my dining room. All the camping stuff has been removed. Some is in the basement, more is in the attic and a few things are still in-between but they are out of the kitchen or the dining room.
Maybe next weekend I can actually do some real cleaning. The house may fall down, it’s been so long.

TODAY’S WORD
addle \AD-'l\, verb:
1. to make or become muddled or confused2. to make or become rotten or putrid
by 1712, from addle (n.) "urine, liquid filth," from Old English adela "mud, mire, liquid manure" (cognate with Old Swedish adel "urine," Middle Low German adel, Dutch aal "puddle"). Used in noun phrase addle egg (c.1250) "egg that does not hatch, rotten egg," literally urine egg. Because of this usage, the noun in English was taken as an adjective from c. 1600, meaning "putrid," and thence given a figurative extension to "empty, vain, idle," also "confused, muddled, unsound" (1706). The verb followed.
TODAY’S REFLECTION
Brothers and sisters: If there is any encouragement in Christ, any solace in love, any participation in the Spirit, any compassion and mercy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, with the same love, united in heart, thinking one thing. Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves, each looking out not for his own interests, but also everyone for those of others.
Philippians 2: 1-4
I think we get so caught up in our own lives that we sometimes forget that other people are out there who desperately need our help. In my opinion, helping others does not mean you have to do extravagant things, but it can just be a simple smile as you are on your way to class or work. I have many goals in life, but one of my main goals is to help someone, in some way, every day.
The gospel says basically the same thing. Jesus is telling us to go out of our way to be kind to those who are in need. It’s easy to be kind to people who will eventually help us, but it can be difficult to take the time to help support others who will never be able to help us in a physical way. However, I have found that every person I have helped, who I never thought would be able to help me, has impacted my life more than I could ever imagine

TODAY’S QUOTE
I have lived to thank God that all my prayers have not been answered.
By Jean Ingelow

HAPPY SUNDAY !!
I hope you all got up on time this morning. I cheated and changed some of my clocks yesterday afternoon. Today I’ll do the rest. How many clocks does one house need??? There is one in every room here and some rooms have 3.
I got my flu shot yesterday morning at the vocational school. The county health district has set up a flu clinic there. I was amazed because there wasn’t even a waiting line. Other years I’ve gone to our Community College when the flu clinic has been there and it always had a long line. Maybe I did it later than usual and that is why???
On my way home I stopped at a place called Farm Yard Flowers and Gifts. I’ve always wanted to stop there, but when I go by they are usually closed. I was rewarded by finding a few Christmas gifts. They were just setting up for Christmas and should have more later so I’ll go back again. It was a lovely place to visit with lots to see.
After that I did get into sorting away things and doing the laundry. I made so many trips up and down the stairs that today I will take a couple extra aspirin so I can continue. I’ll take it slow with my good cup of coffee this morning and go to church at 11, then I’ll come home and get back into it all.
At this rate things may look pretty good by the time next weekend is over.
I do hope so as I’ve got some decorative painting I want to get done for Christmas gifts and if I don’t start soon, it’ll be too late. That is always a fun thing for me to do, but it does take time.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS…PIGGY BANK DAY
During the Middle Ages, metal was expensive and rarely used for household utensils. They used orange clay called "pygg" to make dishes, pots and jars. And when people saved money at home, they put it in a "pygg jar". The name stuck long after the orange clay was forgotten. By the 18th century in England, the pygg jar had become the pig jar or pig bank. Eventually, potters cast the pig bank in the shape of this common name

HAPPY SUPER SATURDAY !!
My days of rest and relaxation are gone, now begins the winter work…I know it’s not winter, but I’m still housebound on the weekends and it is cold outside.
Lots of cleaning and straightening up the clutter to do around here. It’s been waiting for me. It’ll probably take until Spring to get it all done. The main thing is that the camper stuff be put away.
I’m trying to sip the coffee slowly this morning because I know after that I must get busy. I’m also running out for my flu shot. I know I’ll be tempted just to keep on going down the road to see my camper. But that would be too sad. It’s all locked up for the winter.
The good news is that no one is expected to visit me for awhile. If they did come they’d find a frightful mess and I wouldn’t want that. Our next family get together will be Thanksgiving and that won’t even be at home so I’ve a reprieve for awhile yet. Maybe by Christmas I’ll be able to decorate a bit if I’m good and keep on with the house work.
DS#5 and his wife host our family Christmas Feast so maybe just maybe no one will even be home then.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a home

When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer
And remembering,
Help me to destroy my complacency
Bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help’

Amen
God of peace,

TODAY IS…NUTTY PECAN DAY
Now, why do people usually only eat pecans during the holidays? They are cholesterol and sodium free - and are also full of vitamins and minerals. Eating a handful every day is good for you, but don't forget to try out a special pecan recipe, too
CHEWY PRALINES

1. Combine the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, salt and condensed milk in a large, heavy saucepan. Stirring constantly, bring to a roiling boil.2. Keep stirring, reduce heat and cook to a firm ball stage (250 degrees on your candy themometer).3. Remove from heat. Stir in pecans and vanilla, then cool for 10 minutes.4. Using a tablespoon, drop spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet or waxed paper. When completely cool, wrap in waxed paper or saran wrap to store
3rd and FINAL WARNING !
Let your clocks “fall back.”
Daylight Savings Time ends at 2:00 a.m. on November 2. In the United States, we owe our four time zones to the development of the great east-west railroads. Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific times came into national use in 1883, although the limits of the zones were not standardized until 1918. Before the railroads made rapid transit possible, simple “local time” was the standard, where it was 12 o’clock noon in any region when the Sun was at its highest point in the sky and shadows were cast in a north-south line
Don’t wait til 2 a.m. change your clocks before going to bed !

TODAY’S SMILE
In a country home that seldom had guests, the young son was eager to help his mother after his father appeared with two dinner guests from the office. When the dinner was nearly over, the boy went to the kitchen and proudly carried in the first piece of apple pie, giving it to his father, who passed it to a guest. The boy came in with a second piece of pie and again watched his father give it to a guest.
This was too much for the boy, who said, "It's no use, Dad. The pieces are all the same size.

TODAY’S REFLECTION
When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together,
and one of them [a scholar of the law] tested him by asking,
"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"
He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and the first commandment.
The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
In the Gospel reading, the Pharisees had just seen Jesus silence the Sadducees. They might have been thinking, "The Sadducees failed -- but we can trip this guy up. Now we'll ask him a question that will either put Jesus on our side or make him look foolish
But Jesus once again out-foxed them
He emphasized that God's main message is about love -- love of God and love of neighbor. Loving their neighbors is exactly what neither these Pharisees nor these Sadducees were doing very well.
I think Jesus is saying this: if you attack people who don't believe what you believe, then you don't understand what God and faith are all about. We don't have to look very hard even today to see wars and conflicts started over differences in religious beliefs. It must make God very sad to see hate groups use Him as an excuse to justify violence and terrorism
