Today is the Beginning of Meteorological Autumn which is when nature becomes more colorful. The third season is all about harvest, golden leaves and is connected to Halloween and Thanksgiving. Often the beginning of fall is the time of a furious weather change: cold fronts make temperatures sink . But when autumn comes along with warm and sunny days and cool nights, people call this Indian Summer.
There is a Meteorogical and an astronomical beginning of the autumn season. The meteorological seasons are structured by months of the year and always start on the first day of the month. On the Northern Hemisphere September, October and November belong to the Meteorological autumn. Where as the astronomic point of view autumn starts with the autumn equinox.
In autumn the green plants start to remove the green chlorophyll in their leaves and store in their strains and branches. This leads to the turning of leaves and makes typical yellow, red, orange and brown color spectrum of autumn possible. After the plant stops supplying leaves, which then dry out and fall. The fall leaves serve as winter shelter and food source for numerous creatures like buttery caterpillar, hedgehogs and lady beetles.
The colorful autumn foliage forms an insulation blanket on the ground. So it rather wouldn’t frost or dry out. The first spring flowers of the next year can grow better protected by the foliage. The foliage turns into humus which provides a rich soil nutrient offering for trees and bushes. On streets and in cities this foliage can become dangerously threatening, as it easily forms a slippery mass on the asphalt.
Fall represents two antagonistic moods which are both often referred to in lyric and arts. On one hand it is all about dark moods, days getting shorter, spooky Halloween and so on, and on the other hand they talk about a golden season, time of harvest and beauty. The beginning of the meteorological autumn exists ever since the first documentation of the weather in the 19th century.
Celebrate today and enjoy the beautiful September days ahead and a plentiful harvest!
If you cannot see the bright side polish the dull side

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Autumn is the hardest season . The leaves are all falling, and they falling like they’re falling in love with the ground.

Autumn is a bittersweet season for me. I got married in September and my husband died in November. So in someways I’m joyful and in others I’m sad.
September here in Texas, is still very warm. So far, we’ve had no chilly nights. The only leaves falling are those that have dried up due to draught. Most everything remains green here.
As usual, I will start to get fall clothing out, but it will be a slow process as we still need to dress for the hot weather.
The days definitely have been shorter and I’m not liking the dark evenings and long nights. I don’t enjoy cold weather at all so I’m loving the heat right now.
Today is also Labor Day when we celebrate a day free from work. It’s so nice to have days off after working all week. DD and her family are joining DS#2 and his wife out on their boat today. I’m staying home, my days of boating are long gone now.
I appreciate the comforts of home more and more.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week! Happy Monday!

Responsible Dog Ownership Month then healthy Aging month. I know I cannot deter everyone's ageing but I do wish there were more Responsible Dog owners. ;-)
Love you lady, Today even Monday thigs are too fast mor my head....
Interesting stuff here, Ma! Despite the warm weather, September still feels like the beginning of Fall to me; perhaps because that's when my grade school year would begin. I just know time seems to be slipping away faster and faster. Gotta make the days count!
