The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades.  May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks,  and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Lincoln’s birthday which is when celebrate the birth of our 16th President in 1809.  This Kentucky born Civil Rights Activist Is  considered one of Americas greatest heroes.  He began with humble beginings, rising up to claim the nations highest office.  His tragic death in 1865 came at a time when Americans needed him most.

Lincoln's birthday is a legal holiday in many states including  CA, CT. NY, and more.  The earliest recorded  observance  of this great man’s birthday was in 1874, initiated by a pharmacist in Buffalo, New York.

To honor his birth, there is an annual wreath laying ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. The U. S. mint released four new pennies featuring states of Lincoln’s life - His log cabin birthplace, readings as a young man, taking a break from log splitting, as a State Legislator in front of Illinois Capitol building, and finally the partially built dome of the U.S. Capitol building.

Lincoln was also known as Honest Abe and The Great Emancipator- two titles he fully lived up to during his political career.  He maintained the Union during the U.S. civil war and allowed the emancipation of many slaves. 

Celebrate his great accomplishements today by learning more about his life.  Pick up one of the many books dedicated to him, or watch the 2012 epic historical drama.

Lincoln is my favorite president.  His grate accomplishments tell the tail of his life.  He did more for our country than any other president. ever and did.  

It’s hard to imagine what he had to do to become president.  He didn’t have money, but he was very smart.  And he didn’t go to big schools but was self taught. You can learn a lot through reading enough books. 

After a hard rain last night, today we may  see some sun, but it will be partly cloudy too.  I’m Stil feeling groggy but better each day. I've been doing a lot of napping, Guess I need that sunshine.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for.  There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

 

Almighty and eternal God,

Protect our military

as they discharge their duties

with the shield of your strength,

may the power of your love

enable them to return home in safety

that with all who love them

they may ever praise you for your loving care.

AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
