Hallmark!
Today is National Sticky Bun Day which celebrates a breakfast pastry made with leavened bread. Traditional recipes call for a glazed topping with pecans, maple syrup or honey, cinnamon and butter.
The first people to add honey and nuts to their bread were the Ancient Egyptians. These glazed pastries have been popular ever since. German settlers in Pennsyvania created our modern day sticky buns. The pastries were originally called Schnecken and are still considered a Philadephia specialty.
Celebrate today by baking some fresh sticky buns or buying some at your local bakery to share with friends and family. Enjoy!
If you cannot see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
They are not to be scarfed, the cinnamon sticky bun, but savored.
J.D. Robb
When we visited Amish Country on Monday, we visited a bakery there where they had some delicious looking sticky buns, but I didn’t buy any. However I did buy a small cherry pie and a few fry pies to enjoy. I do spurge now and then and treat myself to some pie.
Today’s pictures show both sticky rolls and cinnamon buns.
The time is flying by for me now and here it is Wednesday again.
I’ve made up a new menu for next week and discovered I don’t need to go to the grocery store this week. I’ve got everything I need on hand
Monday - American Goulash
Wednesday - Beef and Bean Sloppy Joes
Friday - Lemony Linquine with Spring Vegetables
Weekend - Sheet Pan Maple Mustard Pork Chops and Carrots
On the menu for today is:
Italian Beef and Shells
Makes 4 servings
1 1/2 cups uncooked pasta shells
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 garlic clove, minced
1 jar marinara sauce
1 small summer squash quartered and sliced
1 small zucchini,quartered and sliced
1/4 cup beef broth
1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp. pepper
Cook pasta according to package directions
Meanwhile in a Dutch Oven, cook the beef and onion and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Crumble beef, drain. Stir in marinara sauce, squash, zucchini , broth and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered, until thickened, 10 to 15 minutes. Drain pasta, stir into beef mixture and heat through.
I will be using bow tie pasta instead since that is what is what I have on hand.
It’s looking like the best day of the week today. In the 50’s and sunny so I’ll really enjoy my sun porch today. It needs some cleaning up out there for sure.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday !

National Sticky Bun Day - I would love to eat ten of them - but they are not good for me! lol
Me, too! (What Chatty/Sandie just said.) The closest I've come to enjoying a Cinnabon is that flavored kind of cheesecake.
It's a glorious sunny day here, as well. Like Mother Nature's trying to make up for her earlier bad behavior. (lol)
