Hallmark!
Today is National Cappuccino Day, which celebrates a frothy coffee drink that was created in the 1600’s. It's name from an Italian order of monks known as the Capucinos, a group of friars that wore brown hoods similar to the color of drink.
Prepared with espresso, hot milk and cup of foam, cappuuccino is most popular as an after dinner drink.
To celebrate today, treat yourself to a kick of caffeine and have a cup of cappuccino.
If you cannot see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I’m so thankful to be back on the internet thanks to DS#5 who hooked up the new modem I needed to get online again. He figured it out and got me back online again.
I so like a cup of cappuccino after dinner. I think of it as a dessert coffee. The only kind I make comes from a can, it’s powdered and can be mixed with hot water, but it is good.
I’d usually go shopping today, but I have everything I need, so I don’t have to go shopping. I did make up a new menu for next week and on the menu is;
Monday -French Onion Soup
Wednesday - Porcupine Meat Balls On Rice
Friday-Speedy Tuna Skillet
Weekend - Classic Chicken Divine
On the menu for today is:
Slow Cooker Arroz con Pollo (Chicken and Rice)
Makes 8 servings
3 red, orange or yellow bell peppers chopped
1 onion chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can, 15 oz, no salt added tomato sauce.
1 15 oz can diced tomatoes undrained
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
2Tbsp. chili powder
1 Tbsp. paprika
1/2 tsp ground pepper
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. ground turmeric
2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken thighs
2cups instant brown rice
1 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup chopped green olives with pimentos
1/4 chopped cilantro
Combine bell peppers, onion, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, broth, chili powder, paprika, pepper, cumin and turmeric in a 6 quart slow cooker. Nestle the chicken into the the mixture until submerged. Cover and cook on low about 5 hours.
Stir in the rice and peas and cover and cook until rice is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. About 30 minutes more.
Using 2 forks, shred the chicken . Top each serving with olives and garnish with cilantro if desired.
I didn’t use the cilantro as I had no fresh on hand . I’m not sure about the chopped olives on top. This is a new recipe for me so I’ll try it out to see how I like it. It sounds like a Spanish rice recipe to me. This is much different than the usual chicken and rice recipe I’ve been using. I will be cutting the recipe in half as it makes a lot.
I’m especially thankful today for my memories. There have been more good ones than bad ones in life. And I can continue to make more good ones every day.
I hope you all have
aTERRIFIC Tuesday!

Enjoy a cup of capppucino today and celebrate with me!
There was a cafe back in Arizona that served the best cappuccinos, in huge cups! I've never tried that instant variety but may have to put it on my shopping list. Used to be, on cold days I'd indulge in Cafe Vienna, but I never got around to finishing the whole can. I'm not sure they even make it anymore? Hmmmm.
I'm looking forward to seeing Monday's 'how-to'! I love French Onion soup, but was always a little hesitate to try and make it myself.
WE do wonder if you miss a day. ;-) This internet can be disquieting to seniors at times. BUT cappuccino being brought up made3 me smile. I learned to enjoy it at a truck stop as we travel. It gives a lot of miles of enjoyment.
Hope you are well up that way.
