THOUGHT FOR TODAY
And I believe that good journalism, good television, can make our world a better place.
Christiane Amanpour
I do watch a lot of television and appreciate hearing about local and world issues. I depend on the news coverage a lot, especially the weather reports.
The weather reports didn’t always happen as predicticted, but they are getting better at it, at least I think they are. They are accurate more times than wrong.
At one time, I read more books and watched little TV, but lately that is changed for me. I’m now watching more and more TV. Today we’re to have more sun than clouds, but we’re only have a high in the upper 40’s and it’s been in the 30’s at night.
This will be a busy week for me, as I have to go for lab work on Wednesday for the coming doctors appointment with my kidney specialist. We’ll also be celebrating our family Thanksgiving on Saturday and I have food to prepare for that.
And I also have to get rid of a lot of my old clothing, shoes etc. I’ve been very slow in this regard, but time is flying by and I need to get busy on this. Clothing is the only thing I’ll be able to move with me, but I have way too much and have to cut it down to the necessities. That is very hard, but at my new home there won’t be much storage to be had, I’ll have to fit everything into one closet in my bedroom. Now here at my house, I occupy 4 or 5 closets full of clothes including a coat closet that is full.
My daughter and her family have already done all of this and have placed their home up for sale. They are hoping it will sell quickly so they can move. The sooner they move, I’ll be able to make my plans for moving too. Right now I’m in limbo, not knowing exactly when,
It’s my day to cook here and on the menu is:
Alphabet Soup
Makes 4 servings
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 cup chopped carrot
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped green beans, 1/2 inch pieces
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 cups low sodium chicken broth
1 15 oz. can petite diced tomatoes
4 oz alphabet shaped pasta or other small pasta
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 Tbsp, grated Parmesan cheese
Heat oil in a large pot over medium high heat. Add carrots, onion, green beans and garlic. Cook, stirring until fragrant and beginning to soften, Add broth and tomatoes. Bring to a boil. Stir in pasta. Reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook, stirring occassionally until the pasta and vegetables are tender. Season with pepper . Garnish each serving with 1 1/2 tsp, Parmesan.
I’ll be enjoying a slice or two of sour dough bread with mine.
It is definitely soup weather here and it will taste very good.
I hope you all have
a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!

Exciting times, Ma! I know it must feel a bit overwhelming, but please try not to stress. And remember what a blessing your 'extra' articles of clothing will be to someone who needs it. We bought this house in such a hurry, I don't think the lack of adequate closet space hadn't occurred to us. Ouch!
Because Tom experiences sleep issues, our TV is on most all the time. Aside from a few prime-time shows I rarely watch it anymore, preferring to get my news from the internet.
We seldom watch TV less than 2 hours a year. Mostly a weather alert or national emergency.
But I can sure remember the advent of TV into homes. There was never a TV in our house. Dad being a pastor and some folks considered the TV evil so he walked the safe road, no TV.
But my Brother was a truck driver and while in NYC bought a TV. I think it was a 6 inch screen, black and white of course. In the Shelby NC area there were no TV stations so all we could see was the test pattern, but we honestly watched it for a long time. LOL
