The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades.  May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks,  and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a special   

occasion!

Hallmark!

Today is Halloween, or All Hallows Eve, which can be traced back to an ancient Celtic pagen festival called Sanhein, which was celebrated over 2000 years ago.

The Celtic calendar began on November 1, and the Celts  believed that as the old year faded and the new year emerged, the boundaries between the living and the dead became unstable.  On the night of October 31st, the spirits of the deceased could walk the earth and provoke sickness or damage crops.  To combat evil spirits and ward off ghosts, the Celts built huge bonfires and left bowls of food outside there homes. and wore costumes and masks.

Although there are still plenty of ghosts and ghouls, Halloween evolved into a secular, family friendly event.  One quarter of all candy sold in the US is purchased for Halloween, and typically 40 million children trick or treat in their neighborhood each year.

To celebrate today share some candy with the trick or treaters that may come to your door. Have a Happy Halloween!

I love Halloween, and I love that feeling: the cold air, the spooky dangers lurking around the corner.

For several years now I’ve gone to DS#5’s house because we don’t have any door to door trick or treaters here. 

He always makes homemade Ham and Bean soup for us to enjoy before Trick or Treating begins. Then we sit outside by a fire and hand out the treats.  DD and her family come too as they don’t live on a street with sidewalks and get no Trick or Treaters either. 

The pictures today were taken at his house a few years ago on Halloween.

We have a freeze warning here and may see some flakes coming down tonight.  It will be a time for lots of layers, my winter coat, gloves, and hat, and boots to keep my feet warm.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for.  There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

11,768. for a place to go and celebrate today 

11,769. for delicious bean soup

11,770.for my DD who will pick me up to go over to my sons.  I appreciate the ride. I still don’t drive after dark and usually don’t have a reason to do so.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His
presence is fullness of Joy!

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

 

Almighty and eternal God,

Protect our military

as they discharge their duties

with the shield of your strength,

may the power of your love

enable them to return home in safety

that with all who love them

they may ever praise you for your loving care.

AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
