Today is Labor day which is celebrated on the first Monday of September and out nation celebrates the contributions American workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well being of our country..

In 1882 New York City held the first workingman’s holiday, complete with a parade of over 10,000 workers . Over the next few years, Labor Day celebrations spread across the country.  In 1984 Congress passed an act that made Labor Day an official holiday. President Grover Cleveland signed a law making the first Monday in September of each year a national holiday.

Today, many view Labor Day as the unofficial end of summer. Celebrate with cookouts, small backyard gatherings, or a weekend spent with family.  You can also send Labor Day cards to family and friends. Happy Labor Day!

Many get the day off from work today, and sometimes take a little holiday trip over the 3 day weekend.  I’ve been staying at home and doing very little work at all.  For me Labor Day means I can no longer wear my white shoes. They’ll be put away until next summer.  Although I still have white tennis shoes I’ll be wearing throughout the year.

Today’s pictures of more of my fall decorations that will eventually get put out.  It’s a work in progress as I am.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

 

Almighty and eternal God,

Protect our military

as they discharge their duties

enable them to return home in safety

that with all who love them
