Decide to be happy today, to live with what is yours – your family, your business, your job, your luck. If you can’t have what you like, maybe you can like what you have.
Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, and look for the bright side of things. Praise people for what they do and do not criticize them for what they cannot do. If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. After all, it’s just for one day.
Who knows, it might turn out to be a nice day.

I am never alone. I hold all those dear to me close beside me in my heart where they will live forever!
What a wonderful idea! I've rarely felt lonely, but I think that's on account of my being an only child. And shy. At an early age, I learned how to be my own best friend.
Of course, those residents of nursing facilities and shut-ins probably aren't as fortunate. There's a local grass-roots initiative each holiday season whereby individuals and/or groups adopts a nursing home resident; I'm more inclined to donate to their program than say, Toys for Tots. Everyone loves little children, but few stop to think the elderly enjoy getting gifts, too.
I have to say I love your attitude Ma.
