Today is National Cousins day which is dedicated to the wonderful people that helped us endure all our family get togethers and holidays. They were there to keep us company at the kids table and for some of us, they were the siblings we never had.
There are lots of different types of cousins . There are first cousins, first cousins one or twice removed, second cousins, second cousins one or twice removed and on and on.
Today is the perfect opportunity to thank your cousins for all they do for you.
To celebrate the occasion, find some time to chat over the phone and catch up. Let them know how much they mean to you!
The pictures today include a get together one of my aunts had and she invited all the cousins to be there. Not all of them made it, but the ones that did had a great time catching up on each others lives. There are also pictures of my own family and all of the grandchildren have cousins.
If you cannot see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Cousins are childhood playmates who grow up to be forever friends.

I have lots of aunts, uncles and cousins. At one time there were over 33 of us. We’d visit each other often when we were young, but not so much anymore. When we all got married and had families of our own, the visits stopped with everyone so busy with their own families.
I talked to one of my cousins recently, she always sounds the same, but we are both getting older. I may never see her in person again, but she gets the daily email I send out, so I keep in touch with her.
Sadly I don’t hear from many others, but there is a lot of them on Facebook and we keep in touch that way.
It’s Monday and it is a new week, a new day and another chance to get it right!
I cook something new on Mondays and on the menu is:
Strawberry Poppy Seed Salad with Chicken
Makes 2 servings
4 cups mixed salad greens
1 cup diced cooked chicken
4 large strawberries
1 1 oz. goat cheese, crumbled, 1/4 cup
3 Tbsp. poppy seed dressing
1 cup chopped toasted pecans, optional
I don’t have goat cheese so I will be using cottage cheese instead.
Place greens, chicken, strawberries and cheese in a large bowl. Add dressing and toss to coat. Sprinkle with pecans if desired.
It’s supposed to be in the 80’s today so a cool salad will make for a great dinner. Matter of fact the whole week is supposed to be hotter than usual. Finally it will feel like July!
I hope you all have a have a GREAT start to this new Week! Happy Monday !
Sometimes, I forget to thank the people who make my life so happy in so many ways. Sometimes, I forget to tell them how much I do appreciate them for being an important part of my life. Today is just another day, nothing special going on. So thank you, all of you, for just being here for me.

Our Cowboya played an important part of our western heritage!
Oh my gosh - I will have to tell my husband!
Like that Willie Nelson song, "My heroes have always been cowboys." Yes, as a little girl Roy Rogers was my favorite TV show. He and Gene Autry. I actually wanted to be a cowgirl when I grew up and live on a ranch out in the boondocks. (Thank goodness for unanswered prayers, lol.)
I'd not seen that Code of Conduct but they're all excellent traits.
Willie Nelson sings it so well.
Sadly, I've but 4 cousins left -- owing to geographical (and societal) differences we don't communicate -- except, as recently happened in the event of a death. I'm happy to see that your children and theirs and making an effort to stay close.
I love poppy seed chicken!
My mother was one of eight children so you can imagine how many first cousins I have on that side! In fact, I have two girl cousins who were born not only the same year as me but also the same MONTH! The family must have yawned when we were born! LOL!
