Today is National Milk Chocolate Day which is a day for Chocoholics to unite. Milk chocolate is different from other chocolates. It’s a mix of cocoa solids and either dry or condensed milk. While dark chocolate is traditionally used as a baking ingredient, this lighter version is used to make chocolate candy bars, hot chocolate and many other delicious desserts.
Chocolate is actually a mood enhancer. It can make you happy. This is due to the fact that it contains a stimulant called theobromine and a compound called enandamide. Now that is a reason to celebrate.
To celebrate today, enjoy milk chocolate your favorite way.
If you cannot see the bright side, polish the dull side

Although I usually prefer dark chocolate, I do sometimes have milk chocolate. Right now I am working on a box of milk chocolates with nuts in it.
I can’t have much sugar, so it’s going away very slowly. I only have one piece at a time and not every day. They are truly a treat when I have one. Most candy has a lot of sugar in it.
It’s my day to cook something new here and on the menu is:
One Pot Garlicky Shrimp and Broccoli
Makes 4 servings
3 Tbsp olive oil, divided
6 clove garlic sliced and divided
4 cups broccoli florets
1/2 cup diced red pepper
1/2 tsp ground pepper, divided
1/2 lb. peeled, deveined raw shrimp, about 30
2 tsp. lemon juice, plus more to taste
Heat 2 Tbsp. oil over medium heat. Add half the garlic and cook until beginning to brown. Add broccoli, bell pepper and 1/4 tsp. pepper. Cover and cook stirring a couple of times, adding 1 Tbsp water, if the vegetables are too dry until tender. Transfer to a bowl and keep warm.
Increase heat to medium high and add remaining 1 Tbsp. oil to the pan. Add remaining garlic and cook until brown, Add shrimp and remaining 1/4 tsp. pepper. Cooking until shrimp are just cooked through, about 5 minutes more. Return broccoli mixture to the pot along with lemon juice and stir to combine.
This is fast and easy and is delicious. It would be good served with cauliflower rice. I would use lemon pepper instead of regular pepper.
However, I won’t be cooking this today as DS#5 has invited me to dinner. Still I will be cooking something for the party I’m going to on Sunday for our Precious Ones birthday. Her actual birthday is on August 1st. She wants tacos for her birthday dinner so I’m making some Spanish rice to go along with them.
It’s going to be a hot day with temps around 90 degrees, so keep cool and stay hydrated ! Drink plenty of water.

Oh my I'm uniting with the chocolate lovers. That chocolate cake looked just wonderful - I would love a piece of it.
I can normally resist chocolate -- until that first taste of milky goodness!
Shellfish is a no-no for me, but I do love broccoli and peppers; aren't one-pot meals the best? I hope you enjoy a great time tonight celebrating your Precious One.
