THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Turn that candy cane upside down,
And it becomes a J.
It symbolizes Jesus,
The true reason for Christmas Day!

Candy canes have many benefits. Candy canes are made of sugar, peppermint oil and water. From helping with bad breath to serving as a digestion aid and mood booster, they can bring plenty of good to your life.
Munching on a candy cane can jog your memories of a snow day with your siblings or bring back special moments with just the rip of the plastic wrapper.
I always keep some crushed candy cane on hand. You can buy it in a jar, already crushed for easy handling. It makes a great decoration on cupcakes and cakes and it also makes for a wonderful dip when mixed with cool whip. I’ve made it often to take to our family gatherings over the years. We dip this with round chocolate wafers called Piroulines in it. It’s a quick and delicious treat to make. You could even dip oreo cookies in it if you prefer.
Today is my day to cook here and on the menu is:
Broccoli Cheddar Soup
Makes 2 servings
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 1/2 cups milk
3/4 cup chicken broth
1 cup cooked chopped fresh or frozen broccoli
1/2 cup cheddar cheese
In a small pan, saute onion in butter until tender. Stir in flour, salt and pepper until blended. Gradually add milk and broth. Bring to a boil and cook stirring until thickened.
Add broccoli. Cook and stir until heated through. Remove from heat and stir in cheese until it melts.
This is a small recipe, just perfect for me. I rarely find them just the right size. If you want more, simply double or triple the recipe.
It’s going to be a busy day here, finishing up my packing and checking my lists. Tomorrow I have a doctor appointment and the good thing is that the weather is cooperating, it’s to be partly sunny and in the 20’s here. Much better than what it was.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
Oh sweet December, You bring us Charlie Brown, chestnuts and candy canes, You add such sweetness to your name
You bring us garland, gingerbread and mistletoe , You also bring us everything wrapped in a bow. Oh sweet December - you’re so good to us, you prepare us for the Christmas fuss.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters and EMT’s.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The Message of the Candy Cane
The cane is like a staff used by the shepherd in caring for sheep. Jesus is our good Shepherd. The color red: is for God’s love that sent Jesus to give His life for us on the cross. The Stripes: Remind us of Jesus’ suffering his crown of thorns, the wounds in His hands and feet: and the cross on which He died.

You're blessed when you're content with just who you are—no more, no less. That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought

Fun post. You've inspired me to do a candy can post later. Take care and keep cozy.
Love candy canes. In Moberly, Missouri there was a Candy Cane City for the kids to ply in. You just kicked in that memory from our boys childhood they are in their 60s now. LOL
I did not know you could buy crushed candy canes.... Peppermint was my dad's favorite candy, that was the only candy he remembered as a kid.

Glad to hear your weather's improving somewhat. Wishing you a good report tomorrow at the doctor!
I love the story of the candy canes. Only 82 days to spring - it is so cold here. The broccoli soup looks great.
