ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR TUESDAY, AUGUST 18TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
40 DAYS UNTIL FALL

Life is a special occasion!!

Today is National Ice Cream Pie Day which honors the pie that contains Ice cream and therefore has to be stored in the freezer before serving. These pies are mostly popular in the USA where you would find them in the freezers of mostly any supermarket,, often dealing with a special party topic.
To celebrate you should eat at least one piece of such a cake. If you like you can create your own ice cream pie and invite family and friends over for a party . Most certainly colleagues will also appreciate a cool piece of pie, just don’t forget the cooling bags and the ice packs if you take some to work with you.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Cakes are healthy too, you just eat a small slice.
Mary Berry
I’ve seen more ice cream cakes for parties than I’ve seen Ice cream pies. They are cool treat on a hot day. Many are decorated just like a birthday cake and a wonderful way to party.
Our milkman used to come to the door every day and he’d often have ice cream cakes. Especially at Christmas time when they’d resemble a yule log. I loved having door to door service when the babes were young. He had everything from eggs to bread and lots of delicious treats too. Oh, how I miss him.
On today’s menu, I have no ice cream pies , nor do I have any pictures of them. What I have planned is a Turkey Breast Wrap, baked beans and cooked carrots and kale.
California Turkey Wrap
makes 4 servings
4 flour tortillas wraps
your choice of mayonnaise
4 cups of your choice of lettuce
8 oz. deli turney meat
4 slices Baby Swiss Sliced Cheese
8 slices of tomato
8 slices of bacon
1 medium avocado pitted and sliced
Lay out wraps and spread with a thin layer of mayo Then add lettuce ,or spinach, 2 or three slices of turkey breast. Swiss cheese slices, tomato, bacon and advacado
Carefully fold in the sides while rolling and turning the ends at all the same time.
Slice wraps in half and store in airtight container until ready to eat.
I used whole wheat tortillas and didn’t have any advacados, so used some already prepared guacamole instead. I also substituted turkey bacon for the real thing.
I also have some green grapes and strawberries to have on the side
Makes a good lunch or dinner for summertime.
We are having a very pleasant week here so far. Not to hot and not too cold. Just right ! Usually August is our hottest month, but nothing this year is usual. Most unusual instead. We’ll see what the rest of the month brings our way.
DD and I go to get our hair cuts today. Hard to believe another month has gone by. But we will appreciate them and feel better for it too. I was beginning to get a little shaggy.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
8384. for ice cream cakes or pies, cool and refreshing
8385. for cake, it always means a party
8386. for cool dinner on a hot evening
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Ice cream is always a delicious summer snack !
That deli wrap sounds and looks good and wouldn't have thought of the guacamole for the exchange but a great idea.
I always enjoy ice cream cakes. Your wrap is a perfect summer meal. Glad you are having nice weather - enjoy! :)
Enjoy your hair cut! I am getting one this weekend. Ice cream cakes are so yummy especially on hot summer days.

I love wraps of most any kind, but have never made one here at home. Yours looks great, and that's a neat idea to substitute the prepared guacamole ... in fact I've a jar of guacamole salsa in the refrigerator. Just a wee bite of heat so I don't go reaching for any unnecessary salt. Happy Hair Day! :)
Such an uplifing and needed post. Thank you for your words of cheer and comfort.
