ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 22ND, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Be an Angel Day which motivates us to be kind and help others. Be an Angel Day was introduced b y Jayne Howard Felman and was first celebrated on August 22, 1993.
Kindness is the act or state of being kind, be marked by good and charitable behavior, pleasant disposition, and concern for others. It is known as a virtue, and recognized as a value in many cultures and religions.
Research has shown that acts of kindness don’t only benefit the receivers of the kind act, but also the giver as a result of the realase of neurotransmitters responsible for feelings of contentment and relaxation when such acts are committed.
Use to day to put others before yourself, and reach out to those who needs some extra support. Even a small act of kindness can go a long way. Take the time to be an angel to someone. Whether you choose to do a favor for a friend or volunteer your time to assist others in your community, be sure to celebrate this occasion. Extend a helping hand, offer a kind word or show someone your gratitude. Enjoy Be an Angel Day!
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
Mark Twain
It seems these days I’m on the receiving end of the Angels in my life, more than I’m on the giving part. I have family and friends that always being kind in one way or another. But no matter how old we get, we can still give kind words and a smile. They don’t even cost any money and when freely given, they are a wonderful gift.
Being kind is never a waste of time, because what you give always comes back to you. When we give kindness, we’re choosing to be the best version of ourselves. Spread kindness and cheer wherever you go and you will be much happier too.
It’s Saturday and my Day to cook for the weekend. On the menu for today is:
Sirloin steak, mashed potatoes, cooked spinach and fresh green beans

1/2 c. water
2 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
1 tsp. rosemary, crushed
7 oz, fresh baby spinach
2 c. hot mashed potatoes
Heat 1 tbsp. oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Add the beef and co until well browned on both sides. Remove beef from skillet.Pour off any fat.
Heat remaining oil in skillet. Add onion, pepper and cook for 1 minute, stirring occasionally. Add garlic and cook until vegetables are tender crisp. stirring often.
Stir the soup, water, vinegar and rosemary in the skillet and heat to a boil. Return the beef to the skillet, Reduce heat to medium. Stir in the spinach. Cover and cook the beef for 2 minutes for medium, or until desired doneness. Serve beef and vegetables mixture with the potatoes.
This sauce is very tasty. While I haven’t had mashed potatoes in awhile, I need to remember it’s all about portion control A little bit is better than nothing.
