ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 30TH, 2020
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.
23 DAYS UNTIL FALL

Life is a special occasion!!

Today is Toasted Marshmallow Day! With summer coming to a close, today is the perfect opportunity to light the fire pit and toast up some marshmallows.
The history of the marshmallow dates all the way back to ancient Egypt. The Egyptians harvest the sweet gooey extract of the mallow plant and used it to make candy. It was special treat reserved exclusively for gods and royalty. The modern day marshmallows we know and love today emerged in the 19th century.
To celebrate today, grab a stick and a bag of marshmallows and head outside to toast some marshmallows over the fire. Enjoy the last few weeks of the summer season.
If you can’t see the bright side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We have the choice to use the gift of our life to make the world a better place.
Jane Goodall
I’ve been thinking a lot about the things I want to do before summer is over and roasting marshmallows is definitely one of those things. I’ve yet to sit around a campfire and enjoy laughing and talking with friends and family. That’s one of my best memories of when we camped and I’ll never forget the wonderful feeling. Several of my children do have outdoor fire pits, so I’m going to have to see if they have one to offer me for a night.
I could have a small fire pit of my own out on the car port, but it doesn’t seem worth the bother when it’s just me. Half the fun is the people you share the fire with. I’ve roasted a lot of marshmallows in my day and enjoyed quite a few S;more sandwiches too. Graham crackers with a hot marshmallow and a piece of chocolate in the middle just can’t be beat.
Today I’ll be over to DS#5’s house and he has a fire pit. Maybe chances are he has marshmallows too. We’ll see….
I’ll be taking my macaroni salad along to have with the hamburgers on the grill that they have planned. That is what our Mr. Wonderful wanted for his birthday dinner. I’m good with that too, because I don’t often get anything right off the grill. It always tastes better than on the stove. The pictures today are from last years birthday party. I’ll be sharing today’s pictures tomorrow, his actual birthday!
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.
Eleanor Roosevelt
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
8420. for Mr. Wonderful, today is his party
8421, for outdoor campfires

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The secret of contentment is the realization that life is a gift, not a right. Next to faith this is the highest art - to be content with the calling in which God has placed you.
Martin Luther
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Family celebrations always make me happy !
Enjoy the birthday party!!!!
"On the Bright Side"... MA, I'm going to look on this side all day this Sunday. I have been dragging my chin for a few days, worry about our world, my family.... today it is cool here (thank God) and I have a drive down to a rural town to see my grandson's fiancee... I am going to do it slowly and have fun watching the beauty in the rural scenes on the way. We rush too much, even in our Covid world.
Have a great time with family today, enjoy the delicious grilled food and tell Mr. Wonderful Happy Birthday from your blogging buds! :)
You must be having a marvelous time. Parties are always a time to rejoice.
I've never had a s'more, but sure agree about food cooked outside tasting better!
When we first moved here we talked about getting a fire pit, but that went by the wayside. Like a boat, (I think) it's best to know someone else who has one and is willing to invite you along. (*smile*)
Happy Birthday blessings to Mr. Wonderful!
I hope you get a roasted marshmallow sometime this summer, perhaps even today Ma! They sure taste good! There are people who have fire pits here in Phoenix. We go back and forth about putting one in. It would be enjoyable on a winter night to be out around a fire.
Hard to believe Mr. Wonderful is turning 10 tomorrow! They grow up so fast these days! I am sure the party was lots of fun this year!
