Every dog must have his day.
Jonathan Swift
The dogs in my life, my grand dogs, don’t work very hard at all and they, like their grand’ma’ are very good at napping. None of them are sheep dogs or farm dogs, but all live a very comfortable life in loving homes.
There are plenty of hard working dogs in the world though, many have important jobs to do. Sled dogs are more for sport, but guide dogs and sheep dogs work all day long.
Wednesdays have become my day to make up my shopping list for DD who delivers my groceries right to my door each week. I do the list on Alexa and send it to her. She shops for me on the internet and then goes to pick it up and brings my share over to me.
Menu for next week:
Monday - Grilled Salmon with Cilantro Ginger sauce
Tuesday- Tomato and Smoked Mozzarella Sandwiches
Wednesday - Chicken and Veggie Fajitas
Thursday - Tomato, Cucumber and white bean Salad with Basil Vinaigrette
Friday Gilled Pizza with Prosciutto, Corn and Basil.
Saturday - Steak and Pepper Tartines with Arugula Salad
Sunday - Greek Turkey Burgers with Spinach, Feta and Tzatziki (cucumber yogurt sauce)
On today’s Menu is: Sweet Potato Soup and 1 slice of whole wheat toast
Sweet Potato Soup
2 tsp. canola oil
3 c. thinly sliced carrots
1/2 c. finely chopped leek
1/3 c. chopped orange or yellow sweet pepper
1/3 c. finely chopped onion
1 clove garlic minced
2 14 oz cans reduced sodium chicken broth
1 pound sweet potatoes, pealed, haved lengthwise, thinly sliced
1 potato - peeled, halved lengthwise, thinly sliced crosswise
1/3 c. reduced sodium chicken broth
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
1 bay leaf
1/4 c. chopped pecans, toasted for serving
In large sauce pan heat oil over medium high heat. Add carrots, leek, sweet pepper, onion, and garlic. Cook about 5 minutes or just until vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally.
Add broth, sweet potatoes, potato, black pepper, and bay leaf. Bring to boiling, reduce heat. Cover and simmer 20 minutes or until the potatoes are tender. Discard bay leaf. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
Transfer half of soup to a blender or food processor. Cover and blend or process until smooth. Repeat with remaining soup. Return all soup to sauce pan and heat through. Sprinkle individual servings with toasted pecans.
Thankfully it’s been a bit cooler here so the soup will hit the spot today. It’s delicious for cold weather too.
Today’s pictures are a few of my spoiled, well loved grand dogs.

Enjoy the day and don't work too hard.
Your menu for the week looks fantastic! The soup recipe looks really good too, but way too hot here for soup at this time of year. I love homemade soups, that's one thing I really miss in the summertime. Love all your sweet photos today too. Have a great day :)
Now my mouth is watering for smoked mozzarella! :) I never realized I could make a list on my Alexa and transmit it, too. Not sure who I'd send it to, but love the idea!
I love all kinds of dogs, and those 'working' (assist/K-9/military) are nothing short of amazing. I can sit and watch their videos for hours -- and often do. (*smile*) Your grand-dogs look like they're enjoying blessed lives in happy homes. Oh, were all animals that lucky!
Well.. I never knew thats where that saying comes from...thanks for that. And I love the "puppies"
Your menu looks delicious.. We eat turkey burgers instead of beef..so I need to find that recipe
I will always pray for the military, police and all first responders..where would we be without them
