Today is Play in the Sand Day which is the perfect time to go to the beach.  Even adults may dig in the sand on this day.  It doesn’t matter where you play in the sand - whether on the beach, a sand box,  or in the sand pit of a construction site.  The important thing is you have fun building sandcastles or digging holes.

One of the main attractions of a sandy beach, especially for children, is playing in the sand, as it presents more possibilities than an ordinary sand box.  Sand art is the practice of modeling sand into an artistic form. such as a sand brushing sand sculpture , sand painting, or sand bottles.  The two basic ingredients, sand and water are available on a sandy beach, so most sand play takes place there or in a sandpit.

A samd castle os a type of sand sculpture resembling a miniature building, often a castle.  Sand castles are often made by children but there are sandcastle contests for adults that involve large, complex construction.

To celebrate today, play in the sand.

As you all know, I love the beach and have spent many hours playing in the sand with my children in the past.  Sand buckets and shovels are an important part of a trip to the beach. The most recent beach I was on was in Florida with DS#4 and family.  There. we were mainly looking for shells, so it was a shell beach not a very sandy one. We went there so I could see the sun set, but it turned out to be a cloudy evening.  I did, however come home with a lot of shells to remember the trip by and that is what at the pictures are of today.

This morning I’m sipping coffee outside at my daughters house,  I am dog sitting while they went away for the day and they’ll be back again this afternoon.  It’s pleasant morning in the 70’s so it’s a pleasure to sit outside and feel the morning breeze.  Even though it’s not on a beach, it’s a little different view than I’m used to and it got me out of my house for awhile.  

I didn’t get to make my salmon yesterday so I will be fixing that for today’s supper when I get home again.

I can’t wait to try out the recipe.  It sounds really good.
