ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Sugar Cookie Day which celebrates a cookie that is seemingly simple, but totally delicious. Traditional sugar cookie recipes call for just 6 ingredients: sugar, flour, butter, eggs, vanilla and baking powder.
Though sugar cookies are sometimes thought of as plain, there is more than meets the eye. Use cookie cutters to create shaped cookies and top them with frosting or sprinkles. You can also make cookie sandwiches with two cookies and fillings like marshmallow, melted chocolate, or jam.
To celebrate National Sugar Cookie day, pick up a batch from your favorite bakery or bake some yourself.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Cookies are made of butter and love.
Old Proverb
Over the years I’ve collected a lot of cookie cutters and most of them are for holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines Day and Easter. Whenever I happen to see an unusual one, I’ll pick it up to add to my collection. Cut out cookies are fun to make and to decorate too.
I’ll never forget the year that my boys decided they would take over decorating Christmas cookies. The cookies were already baked and ready for them. Believe me when I say, they were more frosting than they were cookies, but they loved them.
Since it’s summertime and I’m not baking much I thought I’d share a recipe for no bake cookies today.
No Bake Cookies
Makes 2 to 3 dozen depending on size.
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. milk
2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. oats
Prepare two cookie sheets by lining with wax paper and set aside . Combine butter, milk, sugar, and chocolate chips in a medium saucepan and cook over low heat. Stir frequently until butter is melted. Increase to medium heat and stirring constantly, bring to a boil.
Boil, still stirring constantly for 1 minute, then remove from heat and add peanut butter and vanilla extract, stirring until peanut butter is completely combined and melted. Add oats and still until completely coated.
Drop no bake cookie mixture by spoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets. Allow to cool about 20 minutes before serving. Cookies will harden as they cool.
If you want to make shapes, spray the inside of your cookie cutters with non stick spray and place on wax paper Spoon mixture inside cookie cutter until it’s full. Don’t remove cookie cutter until mixture is set then gently slide it off.
Sorry no cookie pictures today, just random pictures from the kids this past week.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

A cookie always satisfies my sweet tooth!
Your random pictures are cute Ma! I like sugar cookies and like to make them. I don't mix up the batch these days but if we want to make some I buy the dough already made and then use the cookie cutters to cut out the ones we want You are right, there are so many cookie cutters out there; hard sometimes to make a choice of the ones one might want to have!

I have a bunch of cookie cutters too. I never use them though. I should pass them on to Harley or Paige now. I am going to try some of those no bake cookies. We used to make one similar to this when I was a kid but I don't think we used peanut butter. We probably didn't have any. Have a great Tuesday.
I finally gifted my grandmother's cookie cutters to my DIL. Clever girl will probably repurpose them into some Christmas décor. That's a great tip about using the non-stick spray.
