ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Hot Dog Day which celebrates a summertime staple on a bun. Hot dogs are one of most iconic American foods. No cookout or baseball game would be complete without a delicious hot dot served on a un and covered in ketchup, mustard, onions, relish, or chili.
Hot dogs, also known as frankfurters franks, wieners, dogs and red hots, have been around since the late 1800’s and it’s estimated that Americans consume 20 billion hot dogs a year.
To celebrate today, cook up some hot dogs for dinner tonight and celebrate this yummy all American favorite.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I like hot dogs just about any way you want to fix them, but my favorite is probably a chill dog. They make a great sandwich, but sometimes I just slice them up and cook them in some baked beans. Beans and wienies seem to go very well together.
Beans and Wienies Casserole
2 cans pork and beans
1/3 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. ketchup
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. prepared mustard
1 lb. wieners, cut in thirds
In a 2 quart casserole stir together beans, onion, ketchup, brown sugar and mustard. Add wieners, pushing them under the surface of beans to prevent over cooking, Bake at 350 degrees until warmed through and bubbly. About 30 minutes.
Today is my day to get out and about and run some errands and shop for groceries. We’re to have some rain which is supposed to be remnants of hurricane Barry as it moves northeast. Thankfully it’s calmed down and we won’t feel the effects like those in the south where it wrecked a lot of havoc. Hopefully, I’ll get in and out between the rain drops.
I hope you all have WONDERFUL Wednesday!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.
Gilbert K. Chesterton

A bit of love from someone dear…

Rain, rain go away come again some other day...
Great pictures of kids enjoying their hot dogs! Its always a summer treat or any time of the year treat to have a hot dog! We found a great hot dog restaurant close to us. They serve a variety of hot dogs with beans on them or sauerkraut, chili, etc. We went there on the 4th of July and I know we'll be back there again real soon! Growing up, my mom made beans and cut hot dogs in them a lot of times. Always delicious!

Having grown up in Chicago, I know my hubby misses his 'Chicago dawgs.' I was so taken aback when he recounted all that involves; must be an acquired taste. LOL. Me, I'm happy as a clam with a chili dog and lots of napkins!
