ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is I Forgot Day which is not just for events you have already forgotten, it’s a day to remind you of events that you might forget in the future. There are many events that can easily be forgotten, such as birthdays or anniversaries.
Forgetting refers to loss of information already stored in an individuals long term memory. Problems with remembering, learning and retaining new information are one of the most common complaints of older adults.
Research has shown that there are a few health behaviors that to some extent can prevent forgetting from happening. One of the simplest ways to keep the brain healthy is to stay active and exercise.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Never forget what you need to remember.
Garrett Bartley
The best way I know of to help my memory is to keep my calendar up to date and to make lists and lots of notes. The only problem in that is I’m the one who has to write it down, and sometimes I do forget.
I have a to do list and a calendar on my phone. I also have them sitting on my desk right next to my computer which also has sticky notes and a calendar on it. With all this you’d think it’d be impossible to forget anything important. But I do. I’m not perfect and make mistakes just like the rest of us.
I figure it’s all about overload. There is so much to remember, that my brain just cannot keep up with all that there is to remember.
Sometimes it’s all a matter of focus. We don’t remember where we put things, because we didn’t focus on where we put it. A lot of memory is about paying attention.
Today is Taco Tuesday and I found another good recipe to try out.
Taco Lasagna
1 lb ground beef
1/2 chopped green pepper
1/2 c. chopped onion
2/3 c. water
1 envelope taco season
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can mexican diced tomatoes, undrained
6 flour tortillas
1 can refried beans
3 c. shredded Mexican cheese blend
In a large skillet, cook the beef, green pepper and onion over medium heat until meat is no long pink. Drain. Add water and taco seasoning. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 2 minutes, stir in black beans and tomatoes. Simmer 10 minutes.
Place two tortillas in a greased 13 by 9 inch baking dish. Spread with half of the refried beans and half the beef mixture. Sprinkle with 1 c. cheese. Repeat layers. Top with remaining tortillas and cheese.
Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted.
Makes 9 servings
One of the best ways I have to remember what has happened in the past is to look back at the photos in my album. and that is what the pictures are of today, Pictures of July 2nd, in the past.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December.
J.M. Barrie
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The advantage of a bad memory is that one enjoys several times the same good things for the first time.
Friedrich Nietzsche
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Sometimes my rememberer forgets...
Such a cute idea to list pictures of past July 2nd's! I bet they brought a smile to your face!
Just this morning I forgot to put the clothes into the dryer. I had taken some trash out and the dryer was still spinning so I figured I would remember it as it was almost done, but totally forgot it until I went to check if the clothes were done so I could fold them and put them away and was surprised that the dryer was empty!
I too rely on a lot of lists these days.
I like that recipe. I'm going to print it out and then make it in the fall/winter when we start using the oven again.

A carry-over from my work days is keeping a tickler file in my desk drawer. It's one of the first things I check each morning. (In a pinch I also ask Alexa to remind me.) I've also become a BIG fan of colored, lined index cards for 'to-do' lists and grocery lists. This morning I bought a new package … they're orange and brought a smile to my face.
Little things ...
I was going to leave a comment earlier but...I forgot! HA HA
I am so funny.
