ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Moon Day which is a reminder of the first moon landing on July 20th in 1969. The first Earthling to step on to the moon was Neil Armstrong, an American Astronaut. Millions of people watched how Apollo 11 landed on the moon.
For centuries mankind looked up to the moon not really believing that one day they could really go there. The astronauts brought real moon material back to the earth and left a flag as well as a memorial tablet on the surface of the moon to whoever might find and read it someday.
Today is also National Lollipop day and National Fortune Cookie Day

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon, July 1969, AD We came in peace for all mankind.
Neil Armstrong
Our news has been filled with memories of the first moon landing. It’s something I’ll never forget. I watched it all happen on TV and was in awe of the men that braved the unknown to go there. It’s hard to believe it was so long ago.
Fifty years ago I was a young wife and hadn’t had my first child yet. My oldest son would have been 48 this year. It was a different world than it is now for sure. We didn’t have home computers, cable TV or cell phones. So much has changed. I saved the newspapers from that day and keep them in one of my many memory boxes.
I’m cooking today for the weekend. I happened to find a great sale on pork loin when I went shopping this week. It was almost 10 pounds so I cut it up into 3 small roasts and 6 boneless pork chops. So today I’m putting one of the small roasts into the crockpot to make pulled pork for sandwiches. I’ll also have some potato salad and coleslaw on the side. It remains very hot and sandwiches and salads are on the menu. I’ve probably shared this recipe before but here it is again.
Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
1 tbsp. paprika
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp. brown sugar
1 boneless pork roast, 2 to 3 pounds
1/4 c. water
1 c. barbecue sauce
Spray crock pot with cooking spray. Rub a mixture of paprika, salt, garlic powder and brown sugar on pork to cover completely. Place in pot and pour water around the pork.
Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours until extremely tender. Use 2 forks to shred pork then stir in barbecue sauce until well mixed. Cover and cook on high setting 10 to 15 minutes longer or until hot. Serve on buns .
Slow cooking is the secret to a tender roast and I like to let the flavor meld with the meat.
The pictures today are from the National Air and Space Museum when DS#5 and family were there on vacation.
I hope you all have SUPER Saturday!

Shoot for the Moon!
Pulled pork sandwiched are the best and yours sound wonderful...
I agree, pulled pork is the BEST!
Like you, I'll never forget watching the moon landing …. a young married, not yet a mother. What a different world!
You may have already read this, but something I saw on Facebook the other day gave me a bit of a start. (Source: qikipedia) "The last date that all living humans were together on Earth was November 2, 2000. Since then, there has always been someone onboard the International Space Station."
Have a yummy weekend!

Cool looking pictures! Such a fun place to visit and so educational too! I am glad you shared your recipe for the pulled pork Ma! I'm definitely going to keep it and make it soon. I remember my sister was so excited watching the events unfold about the moon landing 50 years ago. I was 3 years younger and was excited but wasn't glued to the TV like she was. You are right, so much has changed over the last 50 years!
