ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Workaholics Day which is a day for all Workaholics to take a step back and take it easy. A workaholic is a person addicted to their work. While dedication is certainly an admirable trait, a healthy work life balance is also important. All work and no play can be harmful to the mental and physical health of workers.
If you fall in this category, take an afternoon nap, or read a book. Take some time off to relax, slow down a little bit and maybe schedule a vacation.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals and values are in balance.
Brian Tracy
With this being a holiday weekend, it’s the perfect time to slow down and relax a bit. Since I’m retired, every day seems like a vacation day, but it took a lot of years of work to be able to reach this point. And I learned that it’s important to take some time away from work just to enjoy life.
For me that meant spending time with my family and friends. We spent a lot of happy days together. Sometimes that meant letting go of the work, to allow time to be together. Work is important but we need to stay focused on what is truly important in our lives.
I’ve been enjoying my beans, hot dogs and potato salad here but today I thought I’d make up something new for lunch. Something tasty and easy to make. My sister and one of my nieces both recently mentioned a new way to use crescent rolls, so that is what I’m going with today.
Reuben Sandwich Ring
8 oz. cram cheese softened
1/2 lb sliced corn beef, finely chopped
1 can sauerkraut, rinsed and squeezed dry
1 1/2 c. shredded Swiss cheese
3 tbsp. fresh chopped parsley
1 tsp. garlic powder
2 tbsp. horseradish, optional
Parchment paper
2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 egg beaten
Thousand Island Dressing
Mix together the first 7 of the ingredients. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into 16 triangles. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray.
To create a ring place a small bowl in the center of the sheet to use as a guide. Arrange triangles in a circle overlapping a bit with wide end touching the bowl and points toward the outside. Spoon corned beef mixture evenly on widest end of each triangle. Bring points of triangles over filling and tuck under the wide ends of dough at the center of ring.
Remove bowl and brush dough with beaten egg. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until crescent dough is golden . Let rest a few minutes before slicing and serving . Carefully slide ring onto a large platter. Serve with Thousand Island dressing.
If nothing else, I certainly eat well. Ha! I do enjoy good food.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Wisdom is your perspective on life, your sense of balance, your understanding of how the various parts and priniciples apply and relate to each other.
Steven R. Covey
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7219. for a reminder to take a break from work
7220. for crescent rolls, so many ways to use them
7221. for work that enabled me to retire
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

If you work hard, you have to play hard...
That recipe sounds amazing! Tom and I both love Reubens.
Like my father, my son was a workaholic until a few years ago. I recognize he wanted to be the best provider for his wife and family -- not realizing the damage being done to their relationship. Thank goodness, he's changed his ways and has even cut back to working 4 days a week (v. 7).
That recipe looks great! Definitely something to try! I do confess I'm a bit of a workaholic. Hubby and me didn't have a 4 day weekend, so we are working today, but its a good thing! Enjoy your day Ma!

That sandwich ring does sound good! We ate chili dogs, chips and watermelon today instead of on the 4th! Summer and my friend, Pam, were here so all four of us ate at the dining room table together!
I must say that you have such preety feet!
