ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is the 4th of July, which is when the United States of American celebrates their history and the country. It’s a federal holiday and commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. It’s a huge celebration all over the country, including fireworks, concerts, parades, picnics, and barbecues.
It’s an opportunity for a reunion of family and friends as schools are closed and the day is a holiday for almost everyone. Many people make it a long weekend for short vacations or family gatherings.
Happy 4th of July!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination, and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.
Harry S. Truman
Today’s pictures are courtesy of DDIL#5 as she shared pictures of their trip to Washington D.C. when they were on vacation. It’s a place I’ve never been to and am very thankful for the photos. It’s our nation’s capitol and there is plenty to see.
Every celebration deserves some cake to celebrate so that is the recipe I’m sharing today. It’s perfect for the 4th of July!
Cherry Chocolate Cake
1 pkg chocolate cake mix
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 tsp almond extract, optional
1 can cherry pie filling
In a large bowl combine the cake mix eggs and extract until well blended. Stir in one can cherry pie fill until well blended. Transfer to 13 by 9 inch baking pan that has been coated with cooking spray.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Completely cool and dust with confectioners sugar . Top individual servings with more pie filling, whipped topping, or ice cream with a cherry on top.
As it remains quite hot and steamy here, I think I’ll be topping mine off with some ice cream today. They say we’ll be mid to upper 80’s today with a chance of showers. We’ll see...
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday, the Forth of July!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Liberty is the breath of life to nations.
George Bernard Shaw
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7216. for the birthday of our Country
7217. for pictures of our nation’s capitol
7218. for cake, always good
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
May we think of freedom not as the right to do as we please, but as the opportunity to do what is right.
Peter Marshall
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Remember: Freedom is never free...
Wishing you a happy fourth of July...
The last time I visited D.C. John Kennedy was in the White House. My Grand #1 and her hubby visited last year and seeing their photos - especially Arlington - makes me want to revisit. Happy Independence Day!
Great pictures of your son's family visiting Washington, DC. My sister lives right outside it so I've been there a few times. It is a fascinating place to visit with so much history. Happy 4th of July Ma!
