ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Walking Day which is sponsored by the American Heart Association to remind people about the health benefits of walking. Wear your sneakers or take them to work with you and at some point in the day you are encouraged to take a 30 minute walk.
To celebrate today, put your best foot forward and go for a walk!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I still find every day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read and all the friends I want to see.
John Burroughs
Walking is one of the best exercises we can do. Even though I walk much slower these days than I used to, it’s still one of my favorite things to do. It’s a healthy way to improve our bodies and our minds. It strengthens our bones and improves our mood.
It’s my day to get out to do my weekly shopping and errands, which will involve some walking. It’s to be a nice springlike day, so I’m taking advantage of the weather. I’m finally seeing a wee bit of green here. The grass has begun to grow and it’s starting to look like spring.
Its also time to cook something new to eat and since one of my friends mentioned French Onion meatloaf, I looked up a recipe to try out.
French Onion Meatloaf
Serves 8
2 tbsp. olive oil
2 onions thinly sliced.
1/8 tso, baking soda
1/2 c. dried bread crumbs
1/2 cup milk
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 pounds ground beef
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 c. Shredded Gruyer cheese, optional
Arrange a rack in the middle of the oven and heat to 350 degrees. Grease a 9X5 loaf pan or line with foil.
Heat oil in a pot or dutch oven over medium high heat. Add onions, and baking soda and cook, stirring every few minutes for 15 minutes. Continue cooking, stirring frequently and scraping up browned build up that forms on the bottom of the pan, until onions are deep golden brown.
Place breadcrumbs in a large bowl, pour in milk and stir to combine. Add onions, reserving some for garnish , garlic, Worcestershire, salt and pepper and stir to combine.
Add ground meat and eggs and use your fingers to combine . Transfer to the prepared pan and gently press down to an even layer.
Bake about an hour or until done. Remove from oven and sprinkle the caramelized onion and cheese, if desired, over top of meatloaf. Broil until cheese is bubbly and browned around the edges. About 2 minutes.
Let meatloaf stand 15 minutes before removing from the pan . Slice and serve.
They say the caramelized onion flavor really makes a big difference. We’ll see…
Today’s pictures are courtesy of DD when they took a walk in one of our local parks one day last year. They say it was carved out by glaciers thousand of years ago and is quite a sight to see.

I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
If you are seeking creative ideas, go out walking. Angels whisper to a man when he goes for a walk.

Walking is good and good for you too!
I do all my walking on my hospital volunteer day but should add more outside and enjoy our nice weather right now. The recipe sounds interesting and hubby and I both love onions so might give it a try.
Chuckling. I got a late start to my day and have been sitting here at the computer trying to decide if I really want to go walking. (Guess you showed me - HA!) I've not made that meatloaf yet, so I'm anxious to hear how you like it!
I do walk 40 minutes on the treadmill usually 5 times a week. It is great exercise indeed and I take advantage of the time to read a book. Where your daughter and her family took their walk looks gorgeous!
Glad to see you are seeing some green out there! A sure sign of spring!

My mother-in-law used to walk everywhere she went. My in-laws lived smack dab in the middle of town and only had one car... so she either walked or stayed home. She walked! She'd walk to the nursing home every Friday to do the hair-dos for both her elderly aunts that were there. She'd walk to the grocery store, drug store, just about everywhere. Today she's 92 years old and in perfect health. I think it's all that walking she did. Love, Andrea xoxo
